I've used those princess auto dollies for 19 years . No problems so far but miata's are light .

Princess Auto Powerfist: FUNNIEST. BRAND. NAME. EVER.

Fob and I discussed this earlier.

I had picked up a PowerFist toolset and left it on the kitchen table for a bit before putting it away. Former Lady O saw it and said something like "I don't know what you have planned, but leave me out of it."

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

In both the Prius and BMW the battery is in the trunk , so I guess we better not back in  :rofl2:
The jump terminals for the BMW are underneath the bonnet/hood though.
Also in the Prius.

The query is whether or not I'd get any use out of the booster pack beyond this year, and since I don't need the car typically (we could easily share the one car since I bus to/from work), if I ever went to start it and it wouldn't, I could call roadside to boost it at my convenience.

I'm amazed that some folks do have booster cables, but I've never had them in any of my cars, nor has my wife or her family...In her workplace, which has over 150 employees, only one guy had cables (and knew how to use them).

The booster pack seems like a decent buy, but I think I'll just leave it for now.
Sorry I'm late to the party.   It's Ottawa,  it's cold,  wait this is your first winter here right?  Not sure if you ever lived in the area before but gta feels like Florida in comparison for most of jan/Feb.

So yeah we carry booster cables because cold!   Had to boost someone last week,  but that was because they left their lights on.

Got the interior cleaned and shampooed.  Told them not to bother with the exterior as it wouldn't be worth it, but it was included in the package. 15 minutes late the car was filthy.

Rule for the life of this car and every other car I will own: ABSOLUTELY NO EATING OR DRINKING IN THE CAR!!!

Ordered all parts to completely re-build the brake calipers on the Forester.  For anyone wondering, I'll be doing this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcYg7OhaxtI

This should be interesting....

Glad to see I am not the only person out there who rebuilds...Those actually looks fairly straightforward, and no built-in parking brake mechanism to deal with, those make it significantly more annoying.
Calipers arn't too bad for part count, but if I am doing something with a lot of small parts (master cylinders for example) I put a big long sheet of white paper down on the bench and draw each piece on the way out, as well as take any notes. Sometimes those exploded views in the manuals are not precise enough with the order or direction of stuff.

This will be a first doing a complete resto on brakes like this.

I'll be soaking each caliper in a rust remover solution for 24 hours before I dig into them.

How much are reman calipers?  I bought one for my LX for like $60, new everything, sand blasted, cleaned up, looked brand new.  Came with new pins sliders everything.  Not worth doing the work.

Usually get them from cordone.

Not sure what year your forester is.  But yeah they are cheap http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_years/subaru-forester-brake-caliper-2006.html

Yeah I know the rebuild kit is like $10 for seals, but I'm cheap and I think I'd still just do the full replace.

It depends. Sometimes, if I have the time I prefer to rebuild because then I know it's done right. Other times, the new/reman calipers are silly expensive, especially when you get into older/uncommon cars. The rear calipers for my T/A were like $180 each, so yeah, I rebuilt them (stupid ratcheting e-brake thing and all), but front were like $40, so I just threw the remans on it.
Worst part of that job was bleeding the system in the driveway, in a blizzard with my wife pumping the pedal inside the car while yelling about being frozen the whole time.....sorta funny now, definitely wasn't enjoying myself at the time.

It would cost ~$250 from there..plus the core deposits.  Total of $425.  Then I'd have to mail the cores back and wait for it to clear before I got my deposit back.

Rebuild kit for all 4 (including new pistons just in case).  $70.

The Forester is a POS....I feel even spending $70 on it is a bit much.

I've heard, but I have yet to use them. I do have one of those 1-man vacuum pump deals, it works pretty good too, but when I am in a hurry I usually just default to what I know best...medical line, a glass jar and yelling instructions at Mrs.Firm, lol.
