In ontario they take away your car and fine you $10,000 if you do that.

I didn't do anything to the car but I got the winter tires (on steelies ) out of storage and cleaned them up. The steelies were pretty grungy and looked like they might need repainting but they cleaned up surprisingly well with some foaming bathroom cleaner and a bit of elbow grease. A good coat of wax and they're ready to go.

Yes, I am well-aware of this.......also if you drive >150.  :(

Did have a "oh snap" moment yesterday when I overtook on a two-lane. In a completely rural zone, I overtook another car that was doing 75-80 (because for me, rural = 100 unless otherwise). Had to overtake rapidly (legally), because there was an oncoming vehicle a few hundred metres ahead......which turned out to also be Highway Patrol. He flipped on his radar, was perfectly within his rights to cite me for +30 during the overtake, but he never made the U-turn......... :shuffle:   *phew*

Swapped the wheels over on the Firebird...booo. Blizzak WS-70's are now entering their 3rd season. Low kms on them (maybe 10K), but not showing any significant wear and still ride like new. Definitely a lot more sidewall flex that the summer/all-seasons though. I also lubed the chassis points, did a good inspection on the brakes and washed/waxed the summer wheels.

Today I took the SLK for one last drive for the season, topped up the tank, added some stabilizer and detailed (ok, dusted) the engine bay before wrapping her up for winter.

The van was pretty dirty inside and out after our camping trip (Bon Echo).  Late this afternoon I (and the kids) had some time to wash it.  Nice day for it 16C and sunny.  I always hate washing the van, due to the size, and because it's always the messiest.  But it was fun as the kids were having a good time.  As I am about the dry it, I went inside to fill the bucket with warm water for the chamois.  Only cold water comes out?

Checked another sink, same thing! Had to haul the kids inside to check on the water heater.  Determined the pilot light went out.  But due to the way the water heater was installed, the access is at the back facing a wall, and there is little room to maneuver.  Eventually got it going.  It's was on my list to buy a new water heater (it's a 6 year old rental).  I will move it to a higher priority, and have it facing the front, like the furnace beside it!

Lost an hour with this hiccup, so I will have to do the interior tomorrow.

Depending on where you live and water quality.  In our former residence we had a water heater develop a leak after 6 years and 3 months (guess what the warranty period was).  I spoke to the plumber installing the new one and he said in our area 6 years was the general life expectancy.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

I will shop around.  Because I don't just want to buy it out, I want it turned the other way.  So we will see who has the best price.  I am quite happy with the water in Burlington.

Replaced the entire rear HVAC box (assembly?) in the Escalade. To make a long story short; the temperature in the rear was stuck on luke-warm, I found a dead blend door actuator and a questionable control unit, so I replaced them both. That got the actuator moving, but still no control over the temperature. I took the actuator off again and noticed that the blend door it controls inside the closed assembly had actually broken apart :(

Since nobody sells just the blend door, I went to a scrapyard and grabbed a complete assembly out of a wrecked Yukon. Then swapped into my truck....Took about 2 hours from start to finish, but it all works!! :D

I didn't get a good pic, but here's one from google showing the whole assembly. Basically, I had to swap the "case" which holds the blend doors, heater core, AC condensor, etc.

I love visiting the scrapyard auto recyclers.  I found lots of parts for my Volare and Sebring.

Nice going Firm.  Were the grocery bags not getting warm enough in the back?  I rarely have the heat on in the back with the van (also with the Odyssey).  I guess if someone was in the 3rd row.

lol, yeah, i rarely use the rear climate control too. Back in the summer I think we used it twice (for A/C), haven't used it since....But it really bugs me to not have everything working like it's suppose to, so I had to fix it.

I know your Mr.Perfection.  It's on my to-do-list, but not a high priority, the backup sensors on the van keep beeping, even though nothing is there, and they are clean.  I am hoping to get underneath and rip out all 4 sensors, and it will shut up.  I don't want to replace any of them.

I usually install the winter tires on Oct 31.  The missus hand out candy and I change tires.  But this year, on Thursday night, the forecast called for 15cm of snow and then days of freezing rain after that.  So everyone got winter tires on early this year.  And it was a good call - roads were BRUTAL on Friday.
