Typical boring stuff for a reliable car: Just added to the washer fluid reservoir- warning light was intermittently coming on last week.

Guy at the parts store was nice enough to sell me the concentrate: "you know, we have some concentrate in the back, it's about 1,5$ cheaper"....."Oh really? Cool, I'll take that instead, thanks !"  :)

Damn imperial units on the instructions though when I filled it today......"sh*t, what's a quart? I think it's a litre.". Luckily I remembered my litre water bottle so made the connection there and diluated it correctly, whew.

Is it just me or do  millennial complain about every little thing  ???
Also writing it is cheaper by $1.50 , without giving a reference really point means very little  :P

I'm a Finance analyst/accountant, details matter. Like how the font on the board computer display matches the font of the rest of the instrument cluster on BMWs  :)

And 1,50$ saved is that same amount saved, regardless of reference point. (Saving 5$ on a 10$ meal is the same amount as saving 5$ on a 20 k$ car- you still save 5$ regardless of the relative savings)

Washed and waxed the T/A yesterday and took it to a local cruise night show. Today I replaced the fuel filter in it and tightened down the (loose) carb bolts. Been cruisin around with the t-tops out....feels great.

Time to move up to 3/4" drive and 4' breaker bars

Yeah the 1/2" drive just isn't cutting it for me right now  :o

And seriously try the atf/acetone penetrant man....works like a hot damn
Ended up taking the Mini into a shop yesterday to get the bolt loosened off, took him all of 10ish mins, impact gun got it off quickly. Cost me all of $10 [emoji2] Brought it home & took me about 30mins to change out the hub, made all 3 boys (my 2 & the GF's) help & watch. Car is quieter now, but the tires have some weird cupping going on, on the inside tread, both drivers & passenger side. Not sure what's leading to that? Google time.

Put the roof rack system for the kayaks on the wife's car earlier today, then took them back off about an hour later when she reminded me that the car was scheduled for service tomorrow morning at the dealer.  We leave the car at the dealer overnight and use the key drop. The replacement cost for the rack and options is ~ $1000 so no way was i gonna leave them on the car over night.

I've already removed the transmission.  I don't think I'll even look at the clutch, it's not that old.

I'm going to set the valves and put on new valve cover gaskets, hopefully that takes care of the leak.

The lovely 915 gearbox.  Stuck in reverse, still.

It's so much easier than working on the Subaru.
I've done it a few times, dropping the drivetrain isn't a big deal anymore.

Throw away your Scangauges!

I got HobDrive working on my phone.  Hobdrive is a car diagnostic app.  What makes it stand out from similar apps such as Torque is that it comes with profiles for many hybrids, including the Escape Hybrid.  After installing the app, plugging an ELM-27 Bluetooth adapter into the OBDII port, and pairing the phone, a bazillion sensor readouts and calculations were displayed.

For me, the most interesting to see were the State of Charge (SoC) of the hybrid battery, and the activation% of the electronic clutch for the rear wheels.  Temperature of things like the coolant and hybrid battery will become more interesting next winter.

Hobdrive makes Scangauges and OBDII code readers obsolete.  Hobdrive can display and cancel trouble codes.  Hobdrive on a smartphone is far cheaper, elegant and comprehensive than these gizmos.  I'll be buying the paid version so I can set up custom gauges for the parameters I want to monitor the most.  Anyone who wants to know more than the stock gauges would find this setup useful. Especially hybrid drivers.  Hobdrive's website has a list of hundreds of compatible vehicles, many of which have pre-programmed and tested profiles.

You can also get nav units that can either display and control apps (such as Hobdrive) running on your smartphone (via CarPlay, Mirrorlink etc.) or run the apps on the head unit itself (if the HU has an Android OS etc.). That would get rid of the awkward clutter of a phone on a bracket.

This issue particularly addresses the Escape Hybrid, as very few of them were sold with the optional nav unit that displayed hybrid power flow graphics.  And that OEM nav unit is expensive, outdated and almost impossible to retrofit into Escapes that never had the option.

Oh, and Hobdrive has an HUD option if you prefer to project the data on your windshield. Cool.
