Glad you got your car back RR. It's looking good. Delays were all for parts? When the Bird got hit I had it back in a week, but the only part required was a replacement rim.

My tire situation has been made whole again. Yay.

Sadly also found a knick I think on one of the wheels, very outside edge near the vertical part of the lip. Not 100% sure though if it is actually damaged or if its just really stubborn gunk...

Yea.  The fog light was on backorder and the craptastic local Lexus dealer missed the wheel bearing completely.  So that was another 2-3 day delay.

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Interesting that something as simple as a foglamp would be on backorder so severely.......... ???

But I know the feeling- always good to have your own car back :)

I'd have to imagine there isn't much need to keep a large amount of 2004-2006 LS430 fog lights in stock in Canada.

I got my LS back.  Total cost was $3100.  Turns out the collision took out the front wheel bearing so that needed fixing.  The car is very quiet and I can juuuuust hear another wheel bearing on it's way out.  So I'll be doing that next.  Apart from that, car is excellent and looks great!

Looks good! I didn't realize you were in an accident, glad you're ok.

Nah!  I just hit a trophy sized raccoon!!  Broke my bumper and took out the wheel bearing.

.....
Time is to stop everything happening at once

Put the summer's back on the GF's Mini... sounds like both front wheel bearings are gone though now, hard to pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from though??? Any tips or pointers how to isolate which one it could be, or just change both?

^ good looking Mini.

Jack up the front end again and try spinning the wheels to listen. Also, grab onto the wheel and shake it up/down side-to-side checking for play. Play in all directions usually means the bearing is going out.

also,

if there's louder noise turning left, it's the passenger one,
if there's louder noise turning right, it's the driver one.    ;D  (because worn out bearings usually cause noises.)

For bearings, I usually drive around @ 60-70km/h and then turn the wheel left/right.......the pitch of the noise should change.

Funny about all the wheel bearing issues here - I just changed the two rears on the GTI. I'm pretty sure it was just the right one that was bad, but figured I'd change them both and get it over with. There was no play in the bearing when I checked it, just a growling/humming/buzzing noise while driving. The wheel spun fine, but once the hub was off, the bearing felt scratchy and dry when I spun it.

Also changed out both parking brake cables (been sticking since December  :-[ ) and gave her fresh oil and a filter.

Replaced both rear bearings/hubs on the Highlander back in December.  Lots of Gen 1 owners complain about them wearing out - but 250K seems typical (my mileage at the time) which made me laugh - Toyota owners bitching about wheel bearings lasting only 250K.  The HL's bearing also had no play - just making noise.

I swapped the snow tires off the Highlander today and gave the old gal a once over with it up and the wheels off.  Looks fine.  It's due for an oil change, but I topped the oil off anyway.  Used just under 500ml in 10,000km.

Yea..I'm quite certain the bearing from the Lexus that was wiped out by the raccoon was the original.  200,000kms.

I'll likely do the other one...just because.

Ordered a new speaker for the LS, since I hear some crackling at volume levels over "30".  I was frightened at how much this door speaker would cost because of Mark Levinson written on it.  But $122 US wasn't bad at all IMO.

Not sure how difficult removing the door will be however...

I had to take the tailgate apart on the Highlander and was very impressed by the thought that went into the assembly as well as the quality of the components.

Doesn't look to hard.  And what this guy did is genius...he didn't buy a new speaker, just re-foamed it.  I think I'll do this to the damaged one so I'll have a spare in case..
