I have the same Class III with 2" receiver.  When towing the pop up a couple of days ago, on some steep hills something was scraping.  I am wondering if that was the threads of the ball on the pavement.

 :o

Probably the safety chains, no?

I only had the hitch put on last week, I haven't towed anything with it.  So far I've only used it for the bike rack.

Most of the weekend got dedicated to car stuff...Can't really complain I guess.

-Helped my brother fix some broken exhaust hangers on his SLK
-Removed the nasty old headliner from the t/a to be recovered
-Swapped in the new(er) rear seats in the t/a, so I finally have a set of 4 matching seats in it!
-Investigated a power steering leak on the t/a....overfilled reservoir and a bad cap (I hope)
-Took my SLK out for a nice cruise on (finally) a properly hot night
-Did the front brakes on a buddies Buick
-Repainted the metal trim around the rear window on the t/a
-Started some bodywork to fix a gouge in the t/a's front bumper skirt/cladding. Got it filled and prepped, but turns out the old rattle can of grey primer I needed was clogged solid. Stores were closed by this point on Sunday evening, so I am gunna have to get paint and spray tonight.

It feels good to get a few things off my list.

Speaking of T/A, I thought of you when I went to customer's house to cut the grass.  2002 (35 year anniversary) yellow T/A WS6 package.  One of my favourite cars.  Almost bought one when I was 18, but the insurance was more than the car payments.

Nice to get things off your list, my wife just added some to my list!  :-[

Woo, those yellow 35th WS6 cars are still big money, even today. I love those later birds, but the yellow never really did it for me. A friend has a black 02 WS6 and I am in love with it.

had rear trailing arm bushing, short shifter/shifter bushing refresh kit and CPV valve replaced on my M today.

$855.  for about 7.5 hour labor, i supplied the parts.

the shifter bushing refresh kit made the shifter so much tighter.  it feels like new.

i always heard that Getreg 6 speed in my car is not a good shifter to begin with, but this is pretty decent as far as i'm concerned.

little heavy to row, but what the hell..  everything else is heavy on this car anyway.

rear trailing arm bushing made the rear feel slightly more planted too.

now just need some more work done, and it's done for the year.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

Installed new speakers and tweeters and tweeters last night.  Not that weight = quality when it comes to speakers, but the upgrade speakers were probably 2.5 - 3x the weight of the stock speakers.  I can't believe how flimsy the OEM ones were...

Stage 1 of the audio upgrade (the only stage I'm comfortable doing myself) is complete.
Stage 2 = new head unit and subwoofer, to be installed by professionals!

Just from a quick drive back to work from the dealer (city roads etc.) yes it definitely feels spicier. I actually had to be careful about my throttle application, even at gentle throttle its got a lot of oomph.

Replace the TDI's oil.  Made a big mess!  new TDI oil is expensive, $68.00 for 5l and a filter

Sounds about normal pricing.  But I always wait for it to go on sale...

Took the Tesla Model S to Wasaga, charging at Barrie supercharger on the way back.  Was one of 5 cars charging, added 300km of range while talking to some folks who road tripped from NC USA, they've been on the road for a few weeks travelling around NE USA.

Come to think of it, the Model S is the best road trip car, given there are superchargers along the route. Depending on the distance traveled, gas could amount to hundreds of dollars, while Tesla fuel is "free".

The cost of fuel was $10 for our Toronto <-> NY City trip a few weeks ago.  The Mercedes GLK would have been $500 in gas for the same trip.
(if driven at the same speed...)

I've never felt so comfortable driving a car for 10+ hours in a day.

Contrast that to the 36 foot rolling homes we did our summer trips in the past three years, while super when you are at a destination, they weren't anywhere as relaxing to drive that distance, for the driver anyway, my kids loved the open-road part of the RV trips, but dad, not so much...

My wife is already agreeing to longer Tesla road trips, so I'm planning one for mid-winter, somewhere very south of here.

I had Monday off so I did what's becoming an annual "get the neglected cars out of my grandmother's garage for a day, drive them around and put them back for another year" routine.

I'd driven the T/A to get there, so I got a chance to have both of my thirdgens together for once.

and the MGB

Getting those two also involved moving my mom's MGA, another MGB owned by my brother and my dad's winter beater Cadillac STS. I planned for the whole day banking on at least one of them giving hassles. As we put batteries in each one they all fired right on on the first or second crank. MG's hadn't been started in 1year, Camaro had been at least a couple years of non-running. They're all filthy on the outside, and I didn't bother to clean anything.

The MGB is a (mostly) original car with 21,000 original miles. It hasn't been on the road since 93; brakes and all the hydraulics were rebuilt 2 years ago, so it runs and drives very good. Even on stale gas the engine feels pretty sharp. It has some scratches and chips, and needs a good detailing.

Camaro was my dad's daily, and then my daily. It has 320,000km of hard year-round GTA commuting under it's belt. 2.8L V6, carbed. Most reliable car ever, aside from exhausts, brakes and a handful of typical wear items (steering and suspension bits) it's never seen any major work. Body isn't bad, it was religiously rust proofed, but it has it's scars. Interior is somehow perfect. I drove this one a fair bit on Monday and I was amazed at how comfortable and tight it still feels, no weird noises, tight steering, good brakes - amazing considering it's been off the road since 2007.

Colour me jealous!

Fed the C30 today and took it through a touchless car wash.
