The TSX is officially a beater car now. Filled up some rust holes with Bondo.  :-[  :'(

EDIT: Places around here won't fix a couple of surface spots of rust that I have on the van.  They say, they aren't Maaco.  I don't have the finesse to fix it myself.  Should I head your way?  :-)

You gotta look up the more "shady", cash only places if you want small spots done. :P You can't be bothered with sandpaper and touch-up paint?

Steve, I've been doing the same thing recently, smart maintainers have finally gotten to a point where I am comfortable leaving them connected, which means I don't bother to disconnect batteries in the off-season anymore. I usually run the connector from the battery out to under the front bumper for something, that way I don't even have to open the hood to connect the charger.
Glad to see you're using a NOCO unit....Great products, and a very good company to deal with too. What model are you using?

I do the same now.  I have a Batter Tender Junior for the Miata.  I just leave the wire permanently connected to the battery.  My garage only goes below zero on the really stupid cold days, so no issues leaving the battery in the car over the winter.  In the spring, it started as if it had only been sitting for a few minutes.

G750.  750mA    I too have finally got to the point where I trust these new generation tenders.  I bought this at Crappy and what I liked is that they had plenty of accessories for sale so I grabbed an extra quick connect, but quickly found a home for it.  So when this new Stang arrived I headed down to Crappy to redeem my "money on the card" and was informed by staff that they are no longer stocking NOCO accessories.  >:(    So I found them on Amazonca.

I might have to head to Hamilton area for the more shady places.  Tried a few in Burlington, no luck.  Between the two jobs, the kids, softball, and maintaining the house.  Time is something I don't have.  I have only washed the car twice.  Haven't had a chance to wax it!

Sweet, I am using the G750 too, but I also have a G3500 that I use when a battery actually requires a charge (and not just maintenance). Also glad to hear that you bought it at CTC, I work for corp and it's one of the product lines I manage. That store that stopped carrying the accessories would be a store-specific thing, technically all the accessories are still supported.

^ Store-specific decisions drive me crazy.  Especially with the LCBO, oh we don't carry this anymore, but the LCBO (and much smaller) 4km away does.  If they are the only ones legally able to us liquor in Ontario, then the same beverage that is sold at LCBO A, should be sold at LCBO B.

Umm, back to the thread, What did I do to my car today?     I converted the Odyssey from 4 passenger mode to 2 passenger mode.  Going camping with the wife on the weekend.

^Agreed. The LCBO is definitely the worst offender IMO the one near my office (Yonge & Eglinton Centre) has nothing that I usually buy. At CT it's a little different, stores are all franchised, so individual dealers will decide their own assortment. Since CT operates almost 500 stores right across the country, it makes sense to allow for variations in product across the network, unlike the LCBO.
Also glad to see you're getting some time with the wife away from the kids...by the sounds of things it'll be a good weekend ;)

On topic, my brother did me a big favor and took my SLK in to get the oil changed while I at work...Oil in the car was 2-years old (only about 3500kms on it though). I also had them do the fuel filter, just because I don't think it's ever been done. $180 all-in at an independent. Going to try to put the car to use a little more this summer.

3500km in 2 years! That's criminal!  ;D  Sometimes I think of slipping a virus on to my brothers computer, he would call me to fix it.  Then I would say it will cost you a detail on the Odyssey!   :rofl2:

Looking forward to camping at Pinery.  Always go this weekend, with a group of friends 8-12 of us.  She couldn't come last year, Elliott was only 1 month old.

I know :( I need to drive it more. I would like to drive it to work in the summer, but I carpool with Mrs.Firm in the morning and she likes to recline her seat and sleep..Seats can't really recline in the SLK, so instead I'd have to listen to her complain about it for the hour long ride. I actually tried my luck this morning, but the complaining started before we even got into the car, so I opted for the Firebird instead.

For someone who usually does all their own stuff, why did you opt to take it in?

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

I very rarely do my own oil changes, I find that the setup/cleanup time, plus the material just isn't worth it. For the GM's I usually just hit up a Mr.Lube down the street, 20 minutes and I am outta there, no mess at home. Course, when I get home I always poke around and make sure everything is as I expect.

I also try to avoid touching the MB for some reason. It's not that it's overly complex or anything, I just don't have the familiarity with it that I do the others. Plus, to do the oil I'd either need a pump or remove the underside splash panel, which is a pain. For the frequency I get it done and the cost it just isn't worth the effort I guess. Now, if the car had something go wrong with it that was labor intensive/costly I'd probably break out the service manual (which I have) and tackle it....Sort of a backwards approach I guess, lol.
I have done some smaller things on the SLK over the years...belt, tensioner, rear taillight wiring fix, brake light switch, probably some other stuff I can't remember.

Placed a set of these red forged lug nuts on 18 year old son's 09 Pontiac Vibe as per his request. I made sure to torque each one to manufactures spec and will check again in a few days by re-torquing each on.

These will be his summer lugs. The original ones will be kept for winter rims.

That's what I thought?  But it's a Vibe....I like them (calipers).  Not sure if I would want to replace mine already though.
