First oil change for the GTI, slightly late at 16.5k.

I've forgotten how awkward it is to get at the oil filter on the Miata...

I use these to get it loose (it seems to tighten over time), and then wear rubber gloves so I have good grip.  I also use a LiquidVac to avoid raising the car.  Works very well.  Can now do an oil/filter on the Miata in about 15-20min.

Thanks...I'll give one of those a shot next time.  I have a filter wrench.  It's the type that you put on the end of a socket wrench.  It was a awkward to get it into that little space!

The filter pliers like above work really well - worth a shot

I can also cheat a bit on the Miata as my left hand can easily get in that space.  (I can actually reach to the bottom of a Pringles container...lol)  But, I usually can't get it loose, so I use the pliers to break it loose.

I also found two types of the pliers - the offset slip-joints work better in tight spaces.  The Highlander requires a reach up into a tight space and they're invaluable there too.

Please.  A true beater never receives a bondo Touch up.

1TSX, it's a 2004, right? So it could have been produced/sold in 2003. Which would make it a 11-12 year old car. Oh well, not terrible, but it is sad. Any beautiful TSX with rust is very, very sad....   :'(

Upgraded the interior: custom steering wheel and shifter & e-brake boots. (I also purchased an IL Motorsports aluminum/leather e-brake to replace the fugly, plastic OEM one). The boots are in alcantara with the stitching matching that of the steering wheel. (The OEM boots were in vinyl.)

I also added Mazdaspeeed (produced by Eibach) sway bars for the MX-5, and have an appointment for a precision alignment in 2 weeks.

Now I wanna upgrade the springs... This mod stuff is an illness.  ::) :P ;D

Wash and Wax on Saturday.  Did the wash at a wand wash, then did the wax behind the Canadian Tire while my wife taught her class.  Took me less than an hour to wax the whole car including the rims.

I do NOT miss having a truck for the reason that it took forever to wax.

Made a seat for my race car.  Or more correctly, started on making a seat, not done but not too much left to do, just trim some bits and cover it in fabric.

Yes, which is why I decided to spend a few bucks on materials to fix it. Its still worth keeping.  :)

Yep, delivered in July 2003 I think. It also spent a few years in Montreal, Ottawa and London...all areas with significant road salt use. Never been rust proofed so I think it has done well. The rear wheel wells is where the rust is.

BTW, I love the Miata's new flat bottom steering wheel! Very GTI like.  ;D

EDIT: Places around here won't fix a couple of surface spots of rust that I have on the van.  They say, they aren't Maaco.  I don't have the finesse to fix it myself.  Should I head your way?  :-)

Installed battery tender quick connect on the STANG.  Normally I just disconnect the battery and recharge a couple of times during the off season.  But this time around I'm going to tender the battery 24/7 connected to the car.

Amazon loves repacking items in boxes 10 times the size of the item purchased.  ::)    Also, Ford is using some really nice no pry reusable plastic fasteners.
