normancw Nice pics. That is one rare Porsche 918. I've yet to see one on the road.

Started to take apart the S10's gearbox.

Looks clean. Except the shift fork bushing on here not on the shift fork.

Shift fork with broken off bushing. I believe this the 1-2 fork. 3-4 ok.

I wonder if that is issue with not being able to select 1st gear ...

I Got out the small air compressor to top up the tires but when I plugged it into the cigarette lighter it sparked because of a cracked cord end and blew the fuse.  I didn't have the right spare but there was one in the Subaru fuse box - handy. I Replaced the cord end and it worked. I then tried to fix a regular compressor that wasn't working and found that a rat had chewed a hole in the hose! Rats!  :banghead:

Hey Quad, hi!  :hello:

Nice to see you back! Was just thinking that I hadn't seen you around here for quite a while...

Hiya HeliDriver! Yeah, got pretty sick for a couple of months and then just kinda fell out of looking at autos.ca for a while... But I missed catching up with/ chatting with friends on the forum - like you guys! - so I'm back. :)

Welcome back, Julie!  Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Found a fluid leak under the front passenger door on the weekend after a rear brake job.  Checked the brake fluid levels and they indeed have been dropping.  Also jibes with a slight fading of brake pressure from the pedal while stopped.

Today I got the diagnosis:  leaky brake cable.  Plausible given the location but I can't help be a bit suspicious.  Anyway, another $300 (or so) out of my wallet.

Might have to start shopping for a new ride in a very short while.   >:(

Took the Odyssey in to be repaired, 2 weeks later they finally have a back bumper for it (wife was reared ended a few weeks ago).  They gave us a Dodge Caravan CREW trim.  Obviously has more features than my base Odyssey, but already hate the steering wheel (hard and thick), and the cheap plastic shift knob.  It has leather, sunroof, blu-ray player.  But at the same time, it still has one of the cheap antennas at the front near the hood?

Can you fit two mowers in the back?   ;D

Not going to try with a rental, :-)   I was hoping to do my dump run before having the van repaired, but oh well... First world problems...

Forgot to mention, we ordered an upgraded steering wheel for the 2013 miata. The third generation miata steering wheel is so thin.

OEM wheel (not mine), to illustrate the thinness:

Upgraded wheel :

Has the shape of this one, except I ordered perforated leather all around and with red stitching instead of white.

I've caught the mod bug.  :P  Seriously though, some OEM stuff needs to be replaced...

I like this!  And welcome back from me, as well.  Two months is a long time to be under the weather.   :(

Hey aqua! Yeah, I'm not sure what they do, but they use the stock wheel as a base, get it to be shaped differently (flat bottom, thumb rests, and more aggressive side contouring as an additional option), and then add padding that's also used by manufacturers such as Audi and BMW in their thicker sports-oriented wheels. Then they add better quality leather. (the OEM miata leather is of low quality) All my OEM steering controls and the airbag will fit no problem.

After many, many years, there's finally a company out there who can make a nice wheel for the miata.

For some people automatic climate control was the best invention ever. Set the temp and never open the windows. Go from climate controlled house - car - office - car - home. If they are "lucky" enough they even have a garage and indoor parking at work so they never have to go out and get fresh air.

+1. Why do people buy cabriolets, and then drive with the top up all the time even in times of good weather?!
