I had to take photos of the T/A for insurance

Why?

Looks good BTW.

I had to take photos of the T/A for insurance, so I gave it it's first wash since I bought it in January. Too cold out to do any real detailing, but I hit it with some Croftgate spray wax. Car cleaned up pretty good for what it is:

How old does a car have to be before you insure it as classic?

Washed both VW and bmw and just put on spray wax for now.

Your M3 might just quality but there are stipulations. I don't think you can daily the car.

Rehash of previous discussions.  Certainly cannot drive to place of employment.  All licensed drivers of one's household must own their own insured vehicle.

The winter tires and rims came off today. The high today was +14C, by mid-week it's supposed to go up to +18C :o, so no point in leaving them on much longer. I was surprised how little wear was evident considering how dry the roads have been.

The authorities are already expressing concerns about increased fire risk due to record low snow packs. It's still winter fer gawd's sake!

Here's a pic of the old buggy after I spruced 'er up. 119,000kms and 8 years under her belt so far and running like new.

The latter part of that is true. However, Hagerty (and only them to my knowledge) offer an optional "driver" policy where the vehicle CAN be driven to work, or anywhere else, but on a limited basis. It's a little more expensive, but the extra flexibility is worth it. For example, for the T/A on a traditional classic car policy I'd be paying about $175/year, on this optional policy I am $360/year.
The traditional policy is great for a true classic/collector car...I use that type of policy on the British cars, because I'd never want to drive them to work. But the T/A is something I want to drive everywhere.

I also tried to get them to accept the SLK as a "special interest" car, no dice :( I have a feeling it depends on how you're talking to though.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment Wink. Up close the wheels really need a good scrubbing, and the paint would benefit from a cut/polish, but I'll get to all that over the summer.

I also changed the oil in the Spitfire, tightened all the oil pan bolts (which were all loose) and  washed the red Firebird while I was out there.

Wow....that looks great!!!!
Lighten up Francis.....

In my younger days I loved watching the top fuelers, funny cars and especially the jet dragsters doing their thing at the Edmonton International Speedway. I saw Don Prudhomme and Art Arfons there, among others. Those were amazing days.

Put on some painted metal valve stem caps. Sprayed with WD40 first. Will have to see how that goes rust wise. The outside is knurled.

Also put 12V socket LED flashlights in both the TL and the V60. Should come in handy in many circumstances.

Tried to remove tar spots after a hand washing. Didn't come off as easily as I'd like. I'm using a bottle of Turtle Wax bug and tar remover that I bought maybe 7 years ago or more. Which might be my problem.  Can anyone recommend a brand they've bought recently?

Getting sick of working on cars and it's not even Spring yet.

Spent 9 hours straight on Saturday removing, rebuilding and re-installing the rear calipers on the T/A. Also did new flex lines. Everything was filthy, it was windy and cold outside, I had to remove a rear control arm to get a caliper bolt out....spent another 45 minutes wrestling with the arm to get it lined back up. Major PITA.

Today I washed the Firebird (nice handwash in the driveway), painted some engine compartment splash panels I built for the Spitfire, installed a new headlight bulb in the T/A and put new license plate stickers on the Sonoma & SLK.
