yeah... i don't know if they are actual customers or what, but they act like wholesalers who i owe something to.

new GTA industry; they resell the car within their respective communities without ever changing ownership.  As soon as I hear the voice, I say it's sold, don't call this number again. I understand the motivation, but it's over the top plain stupid.

I know this sort of reseller/scammer thing has been an issue for kijiji for a while now, is it a problem with autotrader ads too?

My wife and I have now sold 3 vehicles on kijiji over 5+ years.  We haven't had any major problems with scammers, but they've tried a couple of times.  It might help that our ads clearly specify that we are NOT desperate to unload the vehicle any time soon - we will consider reasonable offers, but simply won't respond to lowballers/scammers.  Hard for a reseller/wholesaler to make significant profit out of that type of transaction - not that they won't try...

Same.

But your not getting the gist of what 2poops and I are describing.  If you were familiar with the GTA, in particular the west and northwest geographical areas you'd get it.  Not scamming, but more of a cultural issue and it's made it difficult for all ppl.

Yeah, the worst are the lowball offers. Worst.

"I give you [50% of asking price] cash you take it!"

No, I get it.  We've had that too - the guy who offers you half (or less) than the asking price, and seems upset and begins yelling at you when you won't negotiate with him.  Maybe that's a common business practice in some cultures - it's expected that the offering price is grossly inflated, they counter with an equally ridiculous offer, then the haggling starts?  I don't have time for that kind of thing, and that has been clearly outlined in my kijiji ads.

My other favourite is when the potential seller indicates that payment will be made in "cash money".  Because, you know, I'm really open to accepting alternative forms of non-monetary currency when selling a vehicle... ::)

I had a lady try to trade me beads for a Lada Niva project vehicle I was selling. If you have no cash to buy it for $500 how are you ever going to fix it up? The mind boggles.

Well what kind of stuff are you talking? If you're not comfortable meeting them at your own house, this seems like a reasonable option depending on the distance.

Yeah, I have some junk on there now and I can't believe that some people will actually bother to ask if I'll deliver a $15 POS table. I had another guy say he was coming "after 7pm" to pickup a TV stand....Dude shows up at my door at 11:30pm! Luckily I was still awake and he did pay me what I was asking.

Last story...I had a garbage little glass top side table on kijiji for $10, some young guy calls and asks if I'll take $5 - sure, w/e I just want it gone. While I spent 10 minutes on the phone giving him directions I brought the table outside. Kid pulls up with his mom behind the wheel of a van (old Caravan), he gets out and asks if I could lift the table into the passenger seat of the van so his mom could look...So I do it, she looks at a scratch in the glass (which i CLEARLY spoke to in the ad) and decides she didn't want it! They pulled away and i left the table at the curb...

Washed a VERY dirty and salty Crosstrek tonight.  Had to do something.  I walked around the office for half the day with a white salt blotch on the back of my pant leg from where i must have just brushed against the door getting out this morning.

Even brought the equally salt encrusted Weathertech's in and gave them a good scrub.

Mmmm sparkly.... for a day or so.

I remember cleaning those in the summer once, spilled armor all, by accident (have the big jug).  Man, took forever to get them back to normal...

Replaced a window wiper on the Mazda - should have done them all. The others don't have long to live.

The machine washed the car twice, in the 3 months I have had it.

didn't even read the other posts after i quoted/answered the one yesterday... i have a free tv on kijiji right now (and a couple tables for a few bucks)...

people don't read the ad... then they ask me to deliver a free tv... then when someone says they'll take it, they fall of the face of the earth... then i move to the next in line.. they are happy!... then to set up a pick up takes two days... then they get back to me and their boyfriend says the tv is too big for the room... then to the next guy who can't pick it up for 2 weeks....

my god... it's a free tv! they act like they are doing me a favour... the dump is under 5 mins from my house and it's a free drop off... or a scrapper/recycler would pick it up today...
