Well, I waxed the Spitfire yesterday. Used 'Zymol' and was really impressed - it's good stuff.

This?

Wow, that's ridiculous! I'd love to try some of that though.

I used the peasant version:

Hooked up a set of leads to the battery in the SLK and ran an extension cable along the inside of the fender and out underneath the front bumper so I can plug in a battery maintainer while it's up on the lift.

I am impressed by your procrastination. You haven't had snow yet?

We had little dustings here and there, nothing major until today.  I can swap the wheels pretty quick myself.

Replaced the heater blower fan in the Tundra.  Very easy job, just 3 screws and took about 15min.  The fan started to make noises about 2 weeks ago in a cold weather (-25C).  Luckily I made it home to Calgary from Lloydminster, but didn't want to take any chances going forward.

Tracy notice that the LX smelled like brakes after she drove it a few times.

Last night we were on the highway for an hour and a half, barely touched the brakes.  Got home and smelled it again.  So I used my temp prob and the rear left was pretty high 100C but the rear right was at 24c.  They cool off pretty quick I assume at -10 so I'm thinking the left rear was really freaking hot.

So I took the left rear off today, couldn't even move the brake pads, caliper was nice and free, but those pads were glued on.  Took them off cleaned all the guides and pads and it was still a little tight.  Then I ground down the pad backing plates a bit for a better fit.  Seems better.  I pumped the brakes a bit and then grabbed the wheel and I could turn it easily and the pads had play again.

Went for a drive, checked the temps after a bunch of hard braking right rear 80C left rear 100C  fronts too high to measure with my probe.  Must be better.... I hope...

^ E-brake releasing properly? My dad's STS has had chronic issues with E-brake binding up and not fully releasing causing the same issue your describing.

Worked on the Spitfire this weekend: painted the battery box, fixed the broken exterior door handle, re-wired the radio fixing all the previous owner wiring hacks and changed the diff fluid.

On a salt car, every two years brake service is needed on all fours.  Essentially what you did.

I tend to do it annually based on the assumption that the rear calipers will last longer.

That overkill?

Can't hurt.

I usually just change my pads and rotors before cleaning lol.

I actually plan to do full pads and rotors all around, to get rid of a shake.

oil change on my jeep... and while it was in, said to fix the damn rattle in the door that seems to have happened after the paint fix... figured a clip was broken or something...

turns out all the screws that hold the window in place had been finger tightened and the body shop must have forgotten to tighten them up before re-assembling the door...

glad it was an easy fix.. but man... so annoying!

Had the Yukon XL towed to the dealer.

Was on the highway about 50kms from home, on our way back from a day skiing, when all the warning lights went off and the truck started running like sh!t. Got the "Reduced Engine Power" message and it was a struggle to maintain 60km/h. Pulled over, took a quick look under the hood, then restarted it and all was well again... for another 3kms, then same thing. Found a parking lot to pull into, then called GM roadside assistance and waited an hour for the tow truck to show up.

It's at the dealer now, but I'm not too worried: I still have a letter GM sent me about six months ago advising of a known problem with the throttle position sensor. Symptoms are the same as mine, so I'm expecting it will be a quick, easy (and free) diagnosis and fix. Fingers crossed.

^^ Could be lots of things, but may as well start with the most likely (must be pretty common if GM sent out letters and put a warranty extension on it). A code reader would give more clues, but I didn't bother to get mine from home and check (truck was towed straight to the dealer).

Incidentally, I got a similar letter for the GTI a couple of years ago: known problem with the intake manifold and a warranty extension to ten years on it. According to collected internet wisdom, it's not a question of if it will fail, but when::)  I just hope it doesn't happen to me in the middle of nowhere.

That's why you take it in preemptively, isn't it?
