I have it... it's quite a step up from using the provided tools from the car  ;D

Is that the 3.5amp or 7amp?

3.5 return it, you are better off with a drill.  7 amp totally awesome tool, actually stronger than air guns.

Saturday I mowed the lawn/mulched leaves.  Then I performed the winter tire swap on both vehicles.

It's the 3.5amp but I only intend to use it to do the monotonous threading and not the full torquing and un-torquing as I prefer to use a hand torque ratchet for placing on and breaker bar for removal. I'd have to upgrade my compressor if I wanted to use a decent air gun. I did consider it, but not worth it based on my volume of usage. Did I mention it's $40.

Yeah but the 7amp goes on sale for that sometimes.

It won't even remove your wheels.  Like I said.  It's useless, seriously.  You'll have to break the wheels free with a bar anyways.  So at that point just buy one of these and put it on a cordless drill instead.

and i think those are on sale at princess auto right now for a couple bucks.

having worked the service desk, i know what they are dealing with... so i can understand why they get the answers they do.. but i also know how to get around some issues. we're a small store, so we do all we can for the employees... we only have a staff of about 18. don't want to :censor: people off... hard to replace them in stores like this.

in the end, what to take from this is that the dealers really do have their hands tied most of the time... they would LOVE to just put everything through on warranty... but it's not the way it is... and having to pay the techs, pay the parts, pay the jobbers, can't be done for free... at least not all the time. those guys who we all harp on at the desk, might not always be the best and brightest, but they really would like to help you... they have just been turned down so many times from the factory that they are broken!...

i'll keep people posted, but i still have (false) hope.

Maybe that's why your reception lady went for a different automaker? Hearing of too many stories with the shop?

I mean I get it - the Shop can't control what warranty says. And can't really afford to do goodwill for everyone. That being said, if FCA can't process legitimate warranty claims like this, why would someone buy their products when there are companies that don't hassle you for every claim? I'd ideally want a reliable product so that I don't need to go to the dealer, but at the very least good service/assurance things will be dealt with properly when I do go in is a must

Swapped both cars over to winter tires on the weekend.  Just in time  ;D

Replaced the front brake pads and rotors on the Speed while I was at it.  I'd already done the rears a few weeks back but ran out of time to do the fronts.

the buying elsewhere thing is just a "grass is always greener" thing.. all cars have some issues... she only sees the ones with our cars, so she thinks she'll be better getting a different one... you hear it all the time from techs/writers at dealerships. if they have worked for only one brand, they tend to slag it... after working for a bunch, you see a lot of similarities... some are still better of course.

anyway, if i didn't know the whole situation, i was a customer with a problem... the dealership fixed it for free... issue came back, dealership took it, gave me a car to drive and fixed it again.

that's all i should know. so while it has been an annoyance, it's not the end of the world. i'll wait until i have an issue before making a mountain of it.

You make a good point. The issue becomes highlighted or diminished in many ways by how it's handled. Of course if it's not the same issue repeated. Some brands I will never own again based on my dealer experience when I had a known product failure. No blue oval for me.

Sunday....

sprayed some areas underneath the Taco with a can of anti rust stuff.

I might actually visit Krown this spring and just get the inside of the bumpers, tailgate and underneath coated.
still on the fence.

Treated the leather in the Sonoma last night. Even sitting in the garage, the cold dry temps in the winter tend to dry seats out, so I always do this before winter on anything with leather seats.

I've never done it.  Simply washed the vehicle regularly.
In the winter I've managed to spray it down at least every two weeks (underneath especially) washing off all the salt and crap.

Are those seats swapped from a Blazer or something?

Yeah, good catch! Aside from some wiring for the 8-way power (driver's side), lumber and heat they bolt right into the factory mounting in the Sonoma. I swapped them back in 2007-ish, by-far the most enjoyable upgrade I did to the truck.

Sold my 2007 Camry...kind of sad to see it go...but its going to a good home. Sold it to my neighbour (from whom I bought my old Odyssey) who is replacing his 1997 Camry that has 490,000 km!
I love it when a plan comes together.

Hot ass?
