The Forester is barely being driven, but I think I'll install the summer tires today anyway.

though it was a short run with it, i'm glad i got a chance to actually drive it for a bit. pretty good car. i can understand why so many people get them and helps to understand just what type of people get them...

What, you flipped it for profit or you just didn't feel it?

I had some left over spray on truck bed liner from my Seven project. Maybe a 1/4 can. Applied to the underneath of the fender. Looks like and shiny for now. Should offer good protection.

not really either! came out even (yay free driving!) and i had no issue... just to many issues driving a toyota considering my position with chrysler and my family background.

i guess i technically made money because i sold it for an amount that covered my expenses, but i got to save taxes using it as a courtesy trade. could have held on to it and sold it for more, but i really didn't see the point when the end result was pretty close to even.

i'll do a show n shine for my new ride eventually (though i said that about the corolla and here we are!)

Was happy that Mazda replaced the front and rear bushings on the 2010 Mazda5 with 80k on it, even though the bushings are not part of the extended warranty.

Kind of pissed the right rear shock was leaking though... That wasn't covered, $205 with tax!

Yesterday I jockied all the cars around to get my truck outta the garage, took a good 10 minutes of struggling with flat tires (Spitfire) and car covers (truck & SLK) so I could help my buddy move some stuff.
Got out to his place and never ended up using the truck!

Replaced the rear brake pads on the Mazda 5 only discover that like Solstice,  the right rear shock is leaking.  >:(  I'll have to purchase replacement shocks for the rear that are more robust as the stockers are known to blow easily.

Changed the oil on the Speed Protege. Also found the source of the clunking from the left front, loose endlink. Then, I think I may have fixed the leaking problem coming in the front passenger footwell when it rains. Drain was clogged in the front fender. We'll see what happens the next time it rains.  I was also getting some brake squeal from the right side so I lubed up the front. Squeal was still there so I'll have to inspect the rears another time as I ran out of time.

Keep me updated, in hindsight I wish I had the time to get a better aftermarket one, and change it myself.  But since the car was already having its bushings replaced under warranty, I needed the car back ASAP, as that is the only car with the car seats.  So I just had them do it.  First out of warranty repair the dealer has done for me...($205)

It's time for a DIY oil change soon, so bought 7 litres of Mobil 1 New Life 0W-40 fully synthetic (German spec).

About 6 months with the used VW now, and we feel it's a keeper.

So it had its first annual rust proofing. (We do that in the spring now, since that's when it's recommended I learned)

I am still loath to drill holes in German steel, so the request for no holes was made.

It was done by our local Canadian Tire (Corrison-free product) and we talked to our local branch to inquire about how they'd do it, etc. Technique is really often the most important thing. The manager and guy who applied the substance seemed to know their stuff, so we went ahead. The guy who applied it also said he would not drill the VW hatch either. He went through existing ports of entry. He did a great, we are pleased.

This is a recent pic at work where a colleague and I happen to both be working on-call and there was no one else in the garage. He has a Golf R. So they looked like "brothers from another mother" :rofl2:

EDIT: Sorry for the no flash. The Golf R is the one in the beautiful Rising Blue color.

Finally got around to buying a fuel pressure gauge to diagnose if my problem was fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator.  Both checked out OK on the driveway which makes it sound like a fuel volume while driving rather than strictly fuel pressure.  Great Google gods say that could be pump or even a clogged filter.  Since I have no record of the fuel filter being changed ..ever... figured  I would start with that 'cause it inexpensive and should be done anyway.  So - now I'll have to drive around the neighbourhood and see if the car dies ...and if it does ... onto the fuel pump.
