Put new rotors/pads and caliper on the front of the GS.  Rear is next.

Ordered new floor mats, Amsoil and a hood prop holder for the IS300.

New calipers already?  what kind of mileage?

It was too good to be true....Last week I had a shop work on both my truck and the Firebird, bill came in less than I expected so I was pretty pleased. In the Bird I had them replace the window motor, partially because I know taking the panel off to do it myself is a PITA. Girl drove the car home and it sat since then. This morning I get in, driver's door speaker is dead...I figure they neglected to plug it back in :( So now I've gotta pull the panel anyway to fix their oversight. Sometimes you just get f-ed no matter what you do.

Guess that yard work will have to wait....

Pulled in the driveway from work, changed my pants and grabbed the tools. Pulled that stupid panel, plugged in the speaker & reinstalled all in about 45 minutes. Shoulda just did the damn window motor myself.

Yeah my mistake.  Can't remember "regulars" peoples cars sometimes, since you don't have it shown in the profile.  And when GS was mentioned, for a second I was thinking Regal GS.  But now I remember you having an older GS400..

had to get the oil changed on the corolla and get the guys to look at the cold start rattle (looking it up, seems to be a pretty common issue and has a TSB)... they weren't able to get it back to me prior to my workday, so had to start up the pacer... hooked up the battery, jumped it and off i go!

forgot my ipod in the yota, so no music on the way in...

got 3 thumbs up, 2 honks, 4 pictures taken and three comments. always makes me wonder whether i should just keep it... happens every spring.

one of the comments was from a 20-something girl with dyed red hair walking her dog in short yoga shorts... "hey! nice car!".... "nice shorts!".... then awkwardness as i'm still stuck at the lights and she's waiting to walk across... dum-dee-dum... don't mind the pervert in the pacer....
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Cleaned the last blobs of tree resin off the car...and missed one in the middle of the sunroof.  Curses!  If I don't park under the sap tree I have to park under the birdshit tree.

Then decided to ready the lawnmower... bought gas. Put some in. Would not start.

Decided to check the plug.  After abortive hunt for socket realized that I had not removed a spark plug since sometime before summer 1987. 1 9 8 7.  Anyway found a long 3/4  ( why aren't plugs 19mm? ) and the plug was clean.  Thought I might check if the carb ( last time I serviced a carb was an SU on a 1971  1 9 7 1 MGB in the UK in 1973.)  was gummed up from sitting for a year**.  Probably is so I gave up. for now.  Watched Youtube about servicing Honda lawn mower engines.   Decided that the local small engine shop can get it to do on Tuesday...I'd probably have to renovate the garage just to get a clean flat workspace to do the cleaning.

I realized that I have lost a lot of the capability and patience for this sort of work over the last 30+ years and I guess this is why I like new cars, with long warranties and good dealers.  :'( :-[ :(

** Lawn mower is the first 4 stroke small gas engine I have ever owned...had I but known it wasn't going to be used all of 2013 I would have put gas stabilizer it there.

Took some time this morning to give the Highlander's interior a good scrub.

Then took the Miata out for a blast, and was heading towards one of the cops' favourite honey-holes, a construction zone where the limit drops from 100 to 70.  Just as I hit the 70 sign, I slow right down to 70 even.  Invariably, there is a doofus in a rig-rocket riding my bumper, he gives me the bird, swerves into the left lane, and goes blasting past.  BAM, pulled over.

I go around, and repeat.  After eight or nine trucks suckered into a serious ticket (2x in construction zones) I head north to some twisty two laners for some spirited driving before heading home.

I've had me an itch for awhile. This came from a local guy who traded it on a 2015 Yukon. It's a 2012 with 84000 km.
