Got my 3er back from the shop with a new starter. 820 $US (of which, 4,5h of labour charged). Add 30$US for the annual roadworthiness/emissions inspection. It's got 225k km on it, 11 years old. I think this is the year where sh*t has just been breaking, wonder what's next.

I could have done some nice upgrades to my bike with that money !  :banghead:

Amazon usually has good prices on cabin filters.

And yes, making them from furnace filters works great.

What kind of car needs a filter?
2016 Mazda 3
$25-$34 with free deliver in 2 days if you're a prime member

Nope...I was wrong. It's $45. 2016 is a larger 1 piece design.

As cheap as $9 CDN from Rock Auto. For example, for the second most expensive ( Wix ) it's $29 shipped all in. The AC Delco brand says 2 per box for $13. Might be the way to go....$24 shipped for 2 filters all in.

Also, most of the filters on Amazon USA ship to Canada.
I looked at all those prices earlier and called a few parts stores around I will go with the one from Mazda dealership at 38 bucks. They have a lot in stock and that way I don't run into a fitting issue. The Wix here in the parts stores is 52 bucks and that was my option if the dealership would have charged me more.
You'll have not fitment issues buying from Amazon or Rock. Both have fitment checking before ordering.

:iagree: I ordered two each of cabin air filter and engine air filter from Rockauto for $53 all in for my MDX.  Great $$ saver over dealership or even local stores. CT sells my cabin air filters for around $24 each.

Cleaned the engine bay of the 3er. Not perfect, but much better, far less grime and dust.

Let a car/motorcycle friend of mine try the 3er on the mountain roads. Roasted a rear inner wheel when he powered in 1st up a chute/hairpin  :rofl2:

Another weekend of wrenching here. Finished up the body work on the 84 Camaro and took it for a ride, only to return with a cracked rad (fak!), so I've ordered a new one....Another job :( Drove the T/A a fair bit and quickly hit up a local cruise-in show....At least that car is running well.
Then worked on the 72 MGB some more; main fuel line from the tank needed replacing, and I pulled the convertible top frame off, and re-painted it, in prep for a new top to be installed in the next week or two.

Looks much better with the rotten old top off of it:
