Not really related to my current car, but I gave away my 86 Toyota MR-2 service manual to a neighbour that just got an MR-2.

As I was driving by, I saw the the owner in his garage.  I went home, grabbed the manual, drove back, and introduced myself.  It turns out the MR-2 is his girlfriend's.  She was so happy to get the manual (she had been looking for a while).  He has a modded WRX (not sure if it's an STI) that makes 460whp and 500+ lb-ft of torque!

He works at a tuning shop in the east end and can get Amsoil and Motul oil at good prices.
mind passing on the contact? I am looking for a good tuning shop to bounce some ideas off of...

I forgot the name, but I'll drop by and get it.

Got P0300 and P0303 on the Passat, probably coil pack on cylinder 3.  Should be an easy fix.

Got the winter boots taken off - it looks and feels like I have a new car with the alloy rims and all-season rubber.

Slowly checking everything on the new car.  Today  found the tires were at 40 psi instead of the 32 specified on the door label.  Went down to 36 for a couple of days  to try the feel at low pressures and I'll go to 32-33 next week.   Tried some NAV functions...these FGC engineers sure make it complicated. Example: you can enter a 'Vcard' into the cars 'directory' for use with the phone.   But to navigate to that address the Nav has to make a copy of the address portion in the directory.  Fortunately it has room for 2000 entries or so it says ( 60GB hard disk)

Interesting.  The MDX was delivered wit 42 psi all around instead of 35 as per door label.  I wonder if this is done on purpose?

And congrats on the new ride.

If you can make it to Kingston there's a guy in my club who used to wrench in Europe and might be more familiar with Italian stuff. (he used to work on the Audi pro-rally team as well IIRC)  Anyhow, you can probably talk to him on the phone and see if he can help.  His name is Laurenio (sp) and he works at Car Medics.  37 Rigney St, Kingston, (613) 547-8473

I remember hearing him talking about tuning Ferrari carbs by the colour of the flame coming out the headers.

I used the truck to pick up a half cubic yard of sand for the sand box.  Thus far the truck experiment is a rousing success.

Succeeded, after several semi failures, in getting some properly formatted Vcard contacts into the car for phone AND navigation.  The manual says it can be done but is silent thereafter...I think that good orderly Germans have all their phone, mail and email contacts all lined up line soldiers with every field correct...unlike me.

Succeeded after just as many semi-failures in getting the contents of some CDs into MP3/AAC and loaded into the car. The car won't rip them itself, that has to be done elsewhere and that meant I had to make iTunes work on my PC...a program I have been avoiding for years.

I bet that I could do/have done a much better job of the UI to this stuff.  After all, it has a mouse, a rotatable wheel, 7 fixed buttons, 4 soft buttons, 2 SD card slots 1 USB port and a colour screen. A 60 Gb hard disk internally with 20Gb free for music. Should be able to control a spacecraft with that.

IMO the best program to rip CD to mp3 is Exact Audio Copy (EAC)

Just make sure you don't click on a spam link. The program is awesome though and highly regarded by many audiophiles.

Used the Sonoma to pickup 1200lbs of concrete pavers, then another couple hundred pounds of interlock bricks, then a run of 18 bags of screening. Handled the weight like a champ  - especially considering it is a lowered Sonoma.
