2023 starting prices for the RX...

RX350 $63K
RX350h $64K
RX500h $84K

Just showing some real numbers because at $85K, that wasn't a rather basic version.  ;)

That's what I was thinking. The top trim Executive version (gas), same as our 2017, stickers at 79,000 + GST

I thought KD was referring to the RX500h in base version.  Something that compensates for the lack of the V6.

A Lexus 350 with a 2.4T 4 pot with no supplementary drive system is such a rip off @ $63K.   Although, Toyota claims they have improved their slip and grip AWD via advanced brake control.  Still fake AWD.

OK, asked my wife again and of course I misquoted her, so my bad.  Typical for me but she was throwing out a lot of numbers on various vehicles.  ;D ::)  Anyway, the salesguy gave her a verbal quote of ~$80K otd for the one they have in stock.  It's a base RX-350 (not the RX-350h, or RX-450, or RX-500) and I have no idea what packages are included but I'm sure it's well equipped.  I highly doubt you could even get a base model with no options of any in-stock vehicle unless you ordered one.  The only one that interests me is the RX-350h.  He said they have a RX-350h in stock that a customer had ordered but it came in wrong colour so the customer drove it until the proper one came in.  Customer put 8800km on it and dealer is offering no discount and asking full msrp.  The dealer is a family friend and I could call him if I was really interested but I highly doubt he would offer up anything I'm willing to pay.  Last time I talked with him he said the last couple of years has been his most profitable.

The CX-90 PHEV we looked at the other night had a window sticker of just under $66k by comparison.  I'm guessing a similarly equipped CX-70 PHEV will sticker for around $58 - 60K, which is a little more palatable to me and hopefully that will be negotiable.  Toyotas are non-negotiable in this market.

That's a lot of coin for a Camry powertrain.

Yup, but rather that than the turbo4.

Really have no interest in vehicle shopping in this market.  I'll keep sitting on fence for a while yet.  Got too much on the go right now anyway trying to get a cottage build ready, and I know you know the cost of building these days.   :P

I totally agree on the Toyota hybrid version being the choice between the two rightly based on the carbon taxes.  But the MSRP price and the continuing price increases is really disturbing.

I'd Krown/Rust Check the crap out of your current Lexus and drive it till it blows which will be 2030.

That's my plan but ultimately it's her car.  It's still in great shape.  No way would i drive it to NS and back with the current clunking noise though.  That would drive us both nuts!

She's still on the fence on getting a ClassB motor home in lieu of a cottage, so there's that too.  :censor:, what an indecisive time of life.  :banghead: :P

ClassB motor home in lieu of a cottage

I will look forward to vids of you dumping your cassette toilet.  ;D   Those things are great for the odd trip if you have money to burn and plan in staying in motor hotels along the way.

Keep rolling!

My current fleet has 208k, 205k and 185k respectively.

The 2011 Honda (205k) I paid cash new and with a little maintenance (currently has air conditioning compressor on way out) should make another 10 years or so before it becomes rust janky?

The 2010 LR4  (208k) is defying all the pearl clutchers and is in great shape (less wear and rust than Honda). Some issues expected but should be solid for at least another 10 years? Perhaps a timing chain and/or air suspension work. It is such a nice drive that I would likely throw $6k at it to keep it on the road.

The "new" 2016 Volvo (185k) XC60 feels solid. It had ALL highway miles so the exterior is blasted and rough but the interior and mechanicals seem new.  Troublesome rust along the top of the windshield due to rock chips. May one day have professional tackle). Otherwise drives tight.

If I sold at essentially dealer trade in prices the running costs (purchase price and all consumables for cars outside of fuel) is as follows:

LR4: $343/month or $0.316/km (bought used at 70k kms)
Ridgeline: $270/month or $0.196/km (bought new at 0k kms)
Volvo: $217/month or $0.311/km. (bought some tires and could essentially sell for what I bought it for.. early days on this one.

Cool! My LS 460 is my highest mileage car... it rolled 150,000km a couple of weeks ago.

964 is not far behind at 136,000, but obviously climbing at a slower rate.

edit: Forgot the Touareg; it's at 238k.

You finally got that back on the road ?  Did you have to perform some Vice Grip garage tactics to get it  running as it was sitting for quite some time?

I'm thinking this is the F-150, not the Fusion.

All it took was a new battery.  The old one didn't like holding a charge and it looked like a stay puff...started right up on the old gas though.  Put about 2000 km on so far.  Tried to sell it...took the ad down...put it back up again...had a few "lookers" (i.e. too far away can't be arsed) and one guy came down with his son but "too many km and too much $" - yeah...I know...others on line are less, but I seen some of their pics and they's shi# comparatively, lower KM be damned.  Some are probably nicer but they're 2 or so provinces over, and one was $10g and it looks like it has been rode hard and put away in shi#.

I don't care too much...if it sells, it sells, if not...aint givin' it away. All the important bits are brand new - t-case, drive shaft, all brakes...it's got 20 yrs left in 'er. ( :'( )  Can't even buy a high mileage Civic for less! (didn't confirm) And new cars are all $40g plus.  Civic included (I'd want an Si or the new when it comes out Hybrid...but nah...I'm feckin' old...YTF would I take another 6-7 yr car loan out? I don't drive anywhere anyway.)

^^ Looks like a Fusion dash though.

It's def not the F150.  It just passed 150,000 km on it's lengthy long haul to AB and back.  Sonic also just passed 150,000.  Neck and neck those two.

Finally got rid of the absolutely horrible tires the Ridgeline came with, some Firestone Destinations  :hurl:, that were bad in the rain, bad on gravel, useless in the smallest amount of mud and got some Bfgoodrich K02 all terrains. A little noisier but better in all situations I've driven in since I got them

Lighten up Francis.....

Nice. Honda going from the Michelin M/S to the Firestones was a bad move.

Yeah, no idea why, to me Firestone is walmart brand tire. I couldn't believe how bad they were, second worst tires I have ever had on a vehicle. I've never got rid of tires with only 30,000kms on them before, they are still at 8/32s fercrisakes!!

Wow! That sucks having to change them out so soon. My Passport came with the Continental CrossContact LX's. While not a great tire (I find em noisy), they're not bad enough to make me run out & change them.
