That looks possibly noisy and lots of effort to keep clean. :)

Do you need actual floor mats to prevent scratches?  :P

Thanks for the compliments on the truck guys.

I actually do kinda like the way those mats looks, if they fit as well as the photos show. Likely not very practical though. I'd keep them, try them out, and just order some new oil and a filter.  ;D

Facking Peanut Gallery!!    :rofl2:

This sit right over top of the carpet (floormats removed or left in) and they aren't "noisy".  Fitment is perfect.  They don't move.  If these sat on the bar metal floor...yea, they'd be noisy!!  But they come with velcro pads to affix to a bare metal floor (some racetracks don't allow carpeted mats, so that's why these exist).

I've been in a car with a set before (with my driving shoes) and they weren't slippery.  Now if your shoes are all wet, yea...they might be slippery.  Or if I wore my shoes with steel chips embedded in them..they'd be REALLY slippery.  I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it...but I don't anticipate them being terribly slippery.  I guess I could bead blast them to put a texture into them if need be.

The other issue was...in the summer....a heel from a set of shoes disintegrated.  And when I finally noticed, it was like black grease all over my red carpets!!  And was a PITA to get out despite my extensive detailing knowledge.  So I don't want that to happen again. I was told (not sure how true) that I wouldn't be able to get a set of factory Carrera red mats for this car.  So again..don't want that to happen.

Also...side bonus...the mats look great and match all of the GT Silver/aluminum bits in the interior of the car.  I'll post pics once the car is out of the garage.

Thanks for all the ball breaking, you fackers!!    :rofl2:

Last week took the Rolla in for its first service (8K) which as expected was uneventful. It is only inspections as oil changes are every 16K.

They gave me an Esso gas card that gives a 3 cent/L discount for 888 litres. Also got a complementary car wash which the car did need.

Still loving the car as it has been a solid and efficient highway cruiser.

Have you already put 8k on it?

Seems like you only just got it a few months ago...

Have you worked out how much gas you've saved in the time you've had it vs. the GTI?

Probably closer to 8500 km after this weekend. Bought it at then end of October so just under 5 months ago. Seems our driving hasn't decreased but thankfully the costs has. I don't bother keeping exact numbers but we save approx $20/fill up (regular vs premium and a 50L vs 55L tank) and then another 2-3L/100 while driving.

While we do miss the GTI there are no regrets getting the Rolla.

I share the same sentiment WRT to the Tundra - while I miss it, I don't once regret selling it and keeping the Mazda as our only vehicle.

Speaking of, I think it finally sold from the dealer who bought it from us.  I drove past their lot last week, and it was no longer their, and it's been taken down from their website.  I'm happy it sold, but also a little sad.  I entertained a little thought that if I ever suddenly came into a large sum of money, I could have purchased the truck back from them.  That option is now closed.

Passed 225,000km in the SI yesterday. Its getting a little rough around the edges but revving it out to the redline and rowing through the gears still makes me smile.

As long as you still love driving it who cares if it has some scrapes and bruises.  How many years have you owned your Si now?

Wow, that’s a great run.  Did you undercoat it often?  How is the paint holding up?

Just the factory undercoating, the oil spray stuff is not really a common thing here. Its got some rust in the rear quarters but otherwise still solid. Clearcoat is pealing as is quite common for Hondas of this era.

I was handed a set of alloy rims with low mileage Yokohama winter tires by my dad...they were on his 2019 MDX when he traded it in.  Not sure why he doesn't want to run them on the 2022 MDX, but nice to have them in reserve for the Pilot.
