Installed a phone holder in the BMW. After doing some research, I got this one off Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/APPS2Car-Hands-Free-Universally-Compatible-Smartphone/dp/B0713ZQDXC

I didn't want a vent or suction cup design and thought I would put the CD slot to a good use since I don't think I'll ever use it to play CDs. I also went for the "claw" style vs magnetic. It seems more secure and sturdy to me.
The piece is pretty well built and sturdy which is what I was after. Will see how it works in daily use.

Rolled over 1,000 km. So few zeros again.

Now over 2,000 km. I think I like this thing.

So about $60 in gas?  Yeah, can't complain about that.

Filled up the RX yesterday at about 600km or so

Talked to one of our friends who just got a Rav4 hybrid, they get almost 1000km on a substantially smaller tank

Makes you think with $1.40 gas

The folks hybrid RX gets fantastic mileage, I would definitely go for a 450 if I was looking at them.

Washed the Escalade as it was warm enough (barely) for a good handwash, and tinkered with the SLK a bit. Changed the air and cabin filters, applied some leather treatment to the seats, fixed a license plate lamp and cycled the top down/up lubricating the latches.

They are liking the RX? My wife just loves ours, was worth the time finding it

Used RX450's are a lot more rare, we just couldn't find a good one at the time. Don't really drive that much now so it's not a huge problem, but the next vehicle is likely going to be hybrid or electric

^^ I did the same with the Smurf. Filled tank ,stabilizer, changed the oil and more air in the tires. Forecast for N.S. is a week of rainy weather, figured I wouldn't get too many more chances to drive it much.

Anybody want to recommend a battery maintainer to hook up to the 128i for the winter?  Seems like a good thing to spend my Crappy Tire bucks on.

I got this one for the SLK, plenty enough to keep it maintained while sitting.

https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/motomaster-eliminator-precision-series-1-5a-battery-charger-maintainer-0111967p.html

I ended up buying this one, thanks for everyone's input.

Booked both the Pilot and Outback in for Rust Chek.  Never had this done before, hopefully they don't come back overly messy.

Topped up the tank with Premium. 1.42 at Costco. Regular grade was exactly 10 cents less. I know it's an overkill but I offset it with home brewed coffee (which is much better than anything I used to buy on a street)   :P

I swapped the new winters onto the Golf, went with the Blizzak WS-90's.  Reviews said they were noisy, but I really didn't notice much road noise when I took them for a spin.  I was surprised that these in a 15" have roughly the same ride quality as the 17" Pirelli P7+ that I'm running in the summer.   I think they need to stiffen the sidewall of the blizzak to get them to have an H-rating.  Probably also shows how good of a tire the P7 with respect to ride comfort.

The 15's are also a lot lighter, and you can notice the difference accelerating around town.

The dealership recently serviced the rear brakes.  It was pretty clear that they used an impact gun when putting on the lug nuts.  It took all I had with a breaker bar to get them free.  The fronts, where my indie recently instaled new pads & rotors, were no issue at all.  That's the last time I get the dealership to remove the wheels.  Had I been stranded with a flat, no way I could have removed the tires using the wrench in the tool kit.

Like you, I learned to re-torque the wheels to spec and re-adjust the tire pressure after any visit to a shop if  they touch the wheels.

If you ask the shop not to use power gun on the lugs they will label you as a difficult customer most likely.

The other observation is that they have their torque wrench set to a value, usually 90 or 100 lb ft,  and they use it across the board. You may or may not get lucky to be close to your car's torque specs. The torque spec varies even between models of the same brand and with the same lug size. For instance the GTI is 120 Nm (88 lb ft) but the Passat with the same 17 mm bolts calls for 140 Nm (103 lb ft). Ask a generic shop tech if he knows that. They will most likely tell you it doesn't matter and 90-100 lb ft is good for all and you are just picky....

When I had my Triumph Spitfire years ago I asked the shop to torque correctly and not to use the air tools. Even left a manual torque wrench in the car for them. They sort of rolled their eyes a bit and but promised they would.

Went to pick up the car. They had broken off all 16 wheels studs. I asked if they used air their air tools. Yup. What setting? Eye roll which I always take as "Oh we set to max because manly men". And why didn't you stop after the first, second, third ... ? Eye roll again. Car ended up stuck on their lift for days while new wheel studs got ordered in. They stuck me with the bill of course. That is why for a classic car I take the tires in without the car now.

Geez, that takes a special kind of stubborn to keep breaking them until all 16 are gone

Unfortunately I've known a few people like that, the more they break the madder they get

We had a 50's heavy truck where the shop broke a couple before they figured out the one side was reverse threaded
