Regarding roof racks, I've had good luck getting Thule racks on Kijiji for a fraction of the initial price.

I had a look, and there is nothing.  Complicating the matter is that my Mazda doesn't have factory roof rails, so I need to order the model specific feet anyway.  Good luck finding that stuff on Kijiji.

My brother also brought up a valid point, specifically because this has happened to him recently:  If the rack/trays have any steel in them, it WILL rust over time.  When buying racks/trays on Kijiji, you must have a keen eye and make sure to spot any rust that may be present, reducing the structural capacity of the components.  My brother has actually recently retired a couple of bike trays because he doesn't trust them anymore due to rust.  I wouldn't put it past some people to try to sell such items on Kijiji.

This is the underside of one of his affected Yakima bike trays.  This is after a mere few years of service:

This is why it would make sense to give these areas a good spray or rust inhibitor to avoid/reduce these issues.  Always good to be safe than sorry when it comes to these things.

I ordered aluminum components, so shouldn't have too much of an issue.

Doesn't your car have the factory cutout like this?

It's just got a rubber/plastic strip running along the roof gutter.  Nothing removeable.  I suspect the 'feet' will be the type to clamp around the door.  I could be entirely wrong.  Will find out once I install the rack.

If I had a bike rack, I'd probably put 3M film or Xpel on the roof

I washed the cars then coated them with what is allegedly the most glossy top coat finisher. They actually measured it with a refractometer. It's called Shinee Wax. Can be used as a quick detailer..but I'm not so sure about that one.

Definitely glossy and wet looking. Though sadly you can't tell from my photos. Sun had disappeared behind the trees and it was cloudy.

Sorry!

My Maxpider 3D floor liners came in on Saturday.  Great choice to go with them.  They look nicer than the Weathertechs, and cost about $50 less, too.  Hopefully they hold up.

On Sunday, after the dog park, I drove past the dealer I sold the truck to.  Look what they finally put on the lot:

At the same time I sold them the truck, they had a lady come by and like me, straight up sell them a 4Runner Limited.  Including the Tacoma they already had, they now have a Toyota Truck Trifecta, parked front and center on their lot.

Probably, yes.  Maybe an additional $3-4k.  I would have had to detail the truck (or have it detailed), get it safetied (wouldn't have required anything, but still gotta get it safetied), then deal with a million phonecalls of people, some of whom wouldn't show, some of whom would just want to take it for a joyride, some of whom would lowball me anyway.  Nah, I ain't got the time nor the patience for that.

I took it to The Car Store who we have a history of dealing with -  we bought the Altima, Grand Caravan, and lately, the Mazda3 from them.  They offered $45k, I countered with $49k, and we settled at $47k.  They cut me a cheque that day.  I was more than happy with the process and the price.

I had gone into it having researched all the prices of Tundras in the area.  There were some outliers, like a '19 Limited for $67k https://www.autotrader.ca/a/toyota/tundra/winnipeg/manitoba/5_51869723_20160505110759325/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&ursrc=xpl&urp=1&urm=4&sprx=100, which I felt was far, far too high.  Those trucks had been posted for quite some time, so obviously weren't selling.  I felt like a fair asking price on a private sale would have been $52k, negotiable down to $49-50k.

For example:  Here is an '18 TRD Sport with 62k kms for $48 990: https://www.autotrader.ca/a/toyota/tundra/winnipeg/manitoba/5_52657120_20210903164058647/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&orup=12_15_19&sprx=100

Here is a '18 Platinum with 80k kms (I still consider that low kms especially on a Tundra) for $52k.  The Platinum would have been $25k more expensive than my truck when new.

Anyway, that's a longwinded way of saying, I was happy with what I got, and it was completely hassle free.

As long as you are happy with what you got who cares.  I always say this when someone is trying to negotiate a "deal" on a new vehicle.  If you can afford it, if it's the car you want, and you are happy with the payment, why give them such a hard time to get $500 off.  Just isn't worth it in my book.

Same, I value my time too much.

So how much are they asking for it?

Not sure yet.  They're really slow to update their website.  I'm curious to know.  I'm going to predict $52k.

We basically 'traded it in' for the car, without actually having traded it in.  Because we sold the truck within 6 months of buying the car, we are entitled to get back the PST that we paid.  I wouldn't have known that if we didn't sell it to these guys.  No such luck on the GST, but at least GST is the smaller of the two taxes.

Contemplating putting the Fusion up for sale...  :'( :-\

Sent the truck to the bodyshop this AM to get the cab corners/rockers replaced...they're not rusted through...but I can't stand looking at it and he said there was no point in a small repair, it won't last long.  Also said no point in doing only the corners, even if the rockers look OK now, they're not far behind, and IIRC he said it was easier to do all of it anyway.  Cheaper than a new truck!  ::) :P
