looks awesome, but no...
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

And the Mustang is fixed and back in action.

Next up is my son's truck for the power steering hose again and brake pads. Rain is forecast so we will see.

Lovely. Lexus needs a gas tank. Time to hunt around the local parts suppliers... looks like my cost on a brand new one is sub-$200 but the part seems to be NLA everywhere.

Never did I need to fix so many little stupid things as when I owned a Lexus.

Yeah actually looks like it will. I inquired about the price just to see.

Looks like we have a local supplier that will refurbish the tank to good as new for $150, however. Turns out it's the same guy Rocket Ron sent me a link to as well.

Yeah, there seems to be a hole right near the top. It's sitting in the shop on a hoist right now with the exhaust and everything dropped down, and the tank pulled out of it.

I'll take the tank to the guy on Monday and have it done, unless the Kijiji guy comes back with some crazy low price.

Ha; your luck! It's funny, once I got all the little things sorted within a couple months of ownership, the darn car has been rock solid. The only issues I've had were the rear air conditioning failing, and now this. I did a timing belt and water pump, put brand new brakes on it, refreshed some suspension components, and both winter and summer rubber is within ~2 years. It owes me nothing at this point and is a true joy to drive.

Attempting to put LED's in the truck bed - hoping it'll work when it's done.  Hoping I can find a decent way to clean up the wires...too long between lights, and nowhere really to put the excess.  We will see what tomorrow brings I guess.  Maybe some silicone bathroom caulking and "glue" them out of sight.  :P

Well, that went...well.  Either have a bad ground or a bad soldered power connection.  Lights are so dim you might as well light a fart (would probably burn brighter).  Tested them on a battery on their own and they're super bright, so def got some bugs to iron out.  And gotta figure out a way to clean up the slack between lights.  Anyway...a couple of pics.
The Button:

Used an existing hole in the box, which was too big, (so) and a washer which I sprayed with box liner in a can, and nice clean install.

And the lights...was shocked this AM when we came out and the sticky 3M shi# actually stuck to the boxliner!  I mean I screwed the first two to the box - as a test - and figured this AM the others would be hanging there.  But damn if I can't even move them now!

Still wish there was a better way to do the wires but I watched a video on how to pull the bed side caps off...and fack that...too much chance of messing up the paint.  I'll make do.

The button looks sweet, nicely done. As for the wires, I'd maybe try some more 3M tape to hold the excess up under the bed rail, or see if you can find a clip that'll slide onto the edge of that bed rail to hold them -something like those alligator style paper clips, but not those, don't use those  :rofl2:

I took the day off to get a bunch of chores and errands done, only car related one was giving the Escalade a much needed bath.  Put about 250km on it this morning....such a lovely old beast.

How is the quality on the Mevotech control arms?

Two years ago I installed a set of AC Delco Professional LCA's onto the Highlander and the bushings are shot.  I'm thinking I'll replace them with OEM parts since the labour costs are ~$600 to swap both, including an alignment.

I'd considered Mevotech replacments since they're a few hundred bucks less than OEM.
