The shop also refuses to install any of my supplied parts (even genuine Mini ones)

What?!?!   Who da funk they think they are? Sheesh...guess when you live in a highly populated area hey can do that.  My indie guy doesn't care at all if you bring him Rock Auto stuff...in fact he'll tell you you're better off getting your parts elsewhere as he can't beat those prices.  He'll even give you a parts list.

My indy gives a two year warranty on any parts they supply and install. They will happily instal supplied parts but no warranty.
Yes, this shop offered something similar, except they refused to install my parts, even after I said I would waive the warranty. Oh well, the Mini is going to my old Saab tech today to get the work done. He never complains to have one of my cars on his hoists.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Drove to Regina and back. Left at 7am, got home at 7pm. ~1100 kms.

Car isn't as great as the Passat for long days. Seat cushion is firmer, so there were pressure points. The ride is much firmer, even in 'Comfort'. A bit more wind/road noise, and the smaller fuel tank is only good for about 700kms. The Passat could do 1200kms on a tank.

Fuel consumption was decent at 6.4L/100kms with the cruise on 125km/hr.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

My truck makes a GREAT highway cruiser because it's big, cushy and comfortable.  The seats are soft and flat, and wind noise is minimal.

At least, it would make a great highway cruiser if fuel economy was better than 13-14L/100kms.

What are you doing about the bumper holes?

I want to take the plates of my parents' cars but 1) they wouldn't care and 2) the holes would be ugly.

Probably going to replace the piece that has the holes in it, it already has some scratches and the part is $120.

That's downright impressive!  Imagine if you would drive speed limit!  You'd be in the 5's!  Sh!t, I've been driving the Sonic to work at 90ish kmh for the last (few) tank, and I only managed to squeak out a 6.7 on yesterday's fill up... :P

I'll be doing that ASAP as well.  I plan to order little black rubber plugs from Amazon.

Had the tires rotated on the truck, and now it's in the garage getting the updated transmission software so that it doesn't shift into 1st at highway speeds.  Hasn't yet...
Need new tires by winter they figure.  Hmmm... :P  Time to trade... ??? ::) ;D

Wow. Seems kinda ridiculous that they need to be replaced so soon.

Oh I don't know.  They're OK for this summer, wife was complaining about traction last winter already.  77k+ km on factory tires aint that bad, is it?  They are 6 yrs old.  I would hope aftermarket would last longer, but I looked at what they had, and a set of G/Y 6 ply LT's were 55,000 km.  :P  Won't be buying Duratracs because they're too effing ugly.  Maybe plain old Wranglers like it came with.  Maybe I can find a set of take-offs.  Some guys LOVE those Duratracs so get them changed on brand new trucks.

I'm thinking it's pretty rare.  Of the millions of trucks they've sold has it happened as often as this?

:censor:, I was confusing you for GBA. My bad.

I'm a big fan of the Michelin LTX M/S  for trucks  (or whatever the new one is called).

Fixed the A/C on the Acura. Would be a lot more satisfying if I wasn't the one that broke it in the first place. When I did the starter you have to take off rather a lot of stuff out including the radiator fans which are wired to the A/C compressor. When I took them out the wires oddly fell out the the connector from the radiator to the A/C compressor rather than separating nicely. The problem was it was three identical red wires so a wiring diagram did not help. Took some wires and notes from a local TSX getting parted out and was able to repair and connect up again correctly. Annoying.

Why change the plugs ?
They should be good until 190,000 km
