About three years. I'd have kept it but I just can't justify it with exorbitant maintenance costs for a car I drive very little (750km in 2018).
insurance cost must of been about $1 per km

Insurance was pretty cheap; under $150 a year including taxes on classic car insurance.

Got it ready for ski season... finally don't have to cart the skis inside.

Since it was warm gave the TSX a bit of clean. Looks decent for a 15 year car.

Used it to get into the cottage. In the Golf I would have had to park at the road.

Still think these are one of the best SUVs out there. Perfect size IMO. Also wouldn't guess it is as old as it is. Still looks fresh and modern.

That doesn't look like too much snow for the golf

Changed the front right signal bulb on the Tundra. Took about two minutes. First bulb that has went on it. First bulb I’ve had to replace on any vehicle since doing a headlight on my ‘91 Prelude.

It's a lot steeper than it looks. No way that Golf could climb the hill.  And the plow had gone by.

What about a 4motion golf? :stick:  ;D

Like quadzilla I find the highlander looks good. I was even more impressed when I saw it in person - you scored well.

In all honesty. The Golf might have made it up, but I likely would have had to back up.  And it's remote enough that it wouldn't have been worth the risk.

And yeah. We couldn't be happier with it.

So with the tons of snow that the Bavarian and Austrian alps are getting and all the families taking ski holidays, I wonder how all the familys sedans/wagons are getting around ? I mean, we all have winter tires here in Germany/Austria (by law), but somehow the Europeans manage largely fine without high-ground clearance SUVs and 4x4s....... ???

My colleague came back from a ski holiday with his family and the snow covered his Golf wagon (up to the roofbox.....)  "It was the only way I could find my car....."

I can never get used to hearing German.  Doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely as the romance languages.

I think the Europeans have started to jump in the SUV bandwagon as well in the past few years. Last summer I've seen quite a few SUVs on the road in Germany/Austria. Sure, they are not as predominate as they are in Norh America, but their numbers are not negligible either. Mind you, they are mostly compact SUVs plus some of  the larger Euro (ML/GLE, X5, Q7, XC90) and some Jeep. I have seen one Durango though (definitely and outlier), but it was in a small town with a US military base nearby so I assume its presence was related.

While you can perhaps get by with a sedan/wagon with winter tires in those conditions, with a compact SUV with AWD, winter tires and some ground clearance you can do better without a doubt hence the reason to have one. SUVs have some other benefits compared to wagons/cars which is the reason why some people buy them.....

Not sure if it's still the case, but in some European countries it is mandatory to carry snow chains in the car.

We had 10cm last night.  Empty B-Train was stuck at an intersection.  Tundra to the rescue!!!

I used to get all sorts of cars unstuck when I had my Ranger.  I've never been able to do a Semi before...  ;D
