Other than a few classics, I don't like Christmas movies. We used to watch the animated short of Raymond Briggs' The Snowman, but mostly we liked to share books when my daughter was little. The Polar Express was a tradition. The movie was okay, the book is a treasured piece of children's literature.
The Snowman is a truly well crafted and yes, magical bit of animation. One of my favourites. However, if tradition is under discussion, we have a ritual to watch:
Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas
&
Merry Christmas Mr. Bean
as regulars.
Plus, we might the original animated Grinch and maybe a special movie or two as they happen along.
Other than that, we go to the theatres to catch a blockbuster or two, plus something just for the two of us. Oh yeah, bingeing on TV (Netflix, Movie Network, HBO) is also on the menu as desired.
