Went and saw the new Grinch movie with my wife.  I think us and one other couple were the only people there that didn't bring kids.  We're a couple of Christmas freaks so we both really wanted to see this movie.  Have to say we were both really impressed.  The last Grinch movie with Jim Carey was garbage, but this new animated one was a real hit with everyone at the theatre.  I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christmas movies or has kids.

Good to know.  My wife's been at me to go and see that at the theatre.  I was worried it would be dumb like the last one.

Maybe I'm weird, but I thought the Jim Carrey Grinch movie was a riot. It's one of my holiday popcorn favourites.

Watched Molly's Game the other night (DVD). Jessica Chastain has become one of my favourite female actors. The ending was a little pat, and I think they could have fleshed out her character a little more, but I guess the producer had time constraints. IMO, it is definitely worth catching.

Christmas Vacation
Die Hard
Home Alone

Best holiday movies, family tradition to have them on all Christmas day.

My dark horse choice is The Ref.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Well yes, those three are a given. Don't think I know The Ref. I will have to google it.

Oh ya, now I remember that one. It is definitely worth viewing too.

Two of my 1990's holiday favourites are Grumpy Old Men, and Nobody's Fool. What can I say. I'm simplistic. ;D

My mom is over and watching this movie which reminded me since I can feel the subs shaking my floor. I've already seen it so posting my short review now.

The Christmas Chronicles (2018) - Netflix
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2990140/

The story of sister and brother, Kate and Teddy Pierce, whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about.

I find most Christmas movies boring and similar. I watch some with the Mrs who loves most of them and seems to not be able to get enough of them at this time of the year.

This one was actually quite good plus has some good Mopar street racing that sounds great! Also some great jail time singing with Little Stevie so crank it up! Bonus for being one of the best sounding Christmas movies I've heard and a high quality 4K Dolby Vision picture.

Scrooged and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation are the two that I regularly watch.

Nice picks. I'll add Love Actually to that list. The Mrs would add ELF.

But Peter Dinklage is pretty funny.

I'll give you that....and James Cann and Mary Steenburgen did a good job, just Ferrell, I don't know what it is about him that just drives me.

Watched "The Meg" last weekend.  Entertaining timewaster.
Only disappointment was that facking rat-dog not being eaten at the end.

We watched The Christmas Chronicles on Netflix this past Sunday.  Obviously, it's meant for kids.  I thought it was okay, considering the target audience.  Seeing Kurt Russel play a sorta bad-ass Santa was kinda cool.  Watch for some pretty cool cameos in the Jailhouse rock scene.

My 6 year old was completely riveted by this movie.  She usually doesn't watch an entire move from beginning to end without getting distracted or bored at some point, but this one held her attention the entire time.  Usually she cuddles on the couch with one of us parents and talks through an entire movie, but once this flick started to find its groove (basically when Santa shows up) she moved to a chair all by herself so that she could concentrate on watching the movie, lol.

Anyway, if you have elementary-school age kids, watch this movie with them.  If you're an adult with no kids, maybe skip it.

Other than a few classics, I don't like Christmas movies. We used to watch the animated short of Raymond Briggs' The Snowman, but mostly we liked to share books when my daughter was little. The Polar Express was a tradition. The movie was okay, the book is a treasured piece of children's literature.

My wife always wants to watch Christmas movies, ones she's likely already seen dozens of times, but it's just not my thing.

She must be a Mopar girl ;)
