^^^ Yeah, alpinism is an endurance sport, for sure.  Huge routes in Alaska had guys like Mark Twight and his ilk on the go for over 40 hours.  That's a long time to be operating at a high physical and mental level.  I did a climb that took us 30 hours, we left at midnight and got down at 6:00am the next day.  I was completely fried, mentally and physically.  The km walk to the parking lot is a foggy memory.

I mean I'm sure Alex knows about exhaustion...I'd have to imagine knowing a false move means instant death is hugely mentally exhausting. And I'm sure it does a number on his body too.

There was just something he found unsafe about what was being done and sadly I forget the details.

Fail on me.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Watched this last night, and loved it.  The story of Gander, NL on 9/11 after 38 flights from Europe were diverted to their airport, and how they dealt with the 6,500 stranded travellers.

http://www.hbocanada.com/details/gp143526-you-are-here-a-come-from-away-story

If you get a chance to see the musical based on the Gander 9/11 experience, “Come From Away,” check it out.  My Godfather was the Bishop of the Diocese of Central Newfoundland of the Anglican Church and based in Gander when the flights began arriving.  He was one of the key community leaders who mobilised Gander and the surrounding towns to take action.
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

Can you imagine the horrendous tweets Trump would unleash today - he'd find some way to run down the people in Gander.

I'm waiting for Alex Honnold' s movie to come out.

I'm a fan of his, despite having no interest in climbing or the sport in general.

Honnold is a phenomenon whether you're into climbing or not.  The guy is unique.  I love that he's taken up alpinism and has gone onto some of the world's most aesthetic peaks in Patagonia and Alaska.

He was just in Toronto as his new film played at TIFF which I'm sure sold out in minutes. Also can't wait to see it.

The Predator

Funny R rated movie. Not a lot of Predator-lore to nerd out about...but a good action flick with some genuine good laughs.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I loved/hated university.  The timed paper/pen exams were always crap, and having been a professional educator, I used them as little as possible.  I enjoyed grad school a lot more thanks to the far-fewer exams of that nature.

"Cruise."

Cant wait to see this. So much yes. Buick GN is the costar next to one of the hottest women on the planet, and apparently the director did it right by us car nuts, listening to us to get it right.

Unless she's half naked, I don't care.  Mainly because that's the only way I've ever seen her!    :rofl2:

In France, the exams are tough and graded extremely harshly. Students are ranked based on their result and get to choose their profession based on their ranking and a limited number of slots. Score too low in the class, you won't get to be a doctor once everyone ahead of you takes all the doctor slots.

Been extra lazy while breaking in the new tv.

Watchmen -Bluray

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409459/

In 1985 where former superheroes exist, the murder of a colleague sends active vigilante Rorschach into his own sprawling investigation, uncovering something that could completely change the course of history as we know it.

Still one of my favorite comic book movies and probably the best DC comic movie ever. The way this movie was shot with attention to details is something that I feel missing in the current Marvel-thon. Everything looks real in Watchmen compared to fake in the Marvel world. Worth a watch and probably the 5th times I've seen it.

Den of Thieves - Netflix

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1259528/

A gritty crime saga which follows the lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff's Dept. and the state's most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank.

Nothing new from this cops vs bank robbers but still a good film. Worth a watch.

The Commuter - Netflix

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1590193/

An Insurance Salesman/Ex-Cop is caught up in a criminal conspiracy during his daily commute home.

Is Liam Neeson just settling for easy and repetitive rolls for the money. Didn't expect much from this but a real turd. Avoid.

The Ritual - Netflix

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5638642/

A group of college friends reunite for a trip to the forest, but encounter a menacing presence in the woods that's stalking them.

I like films that deal with group dynamics when the :censor: hits the fan. Good film worth watching if you like these. Bonus for the great sound.

Calibre - Netflix

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6218358/

Two lifelong friends head up to an isolated Scottish Highlands village for a weekend hunting trip. Nothing could prepare them for what follows.

Another group dynamics film but much different than The Ritual. Also a good film with a watch.
