Thor 3.

Really funny and a good time.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Finally watched Logan on Netflix.  It’s a “small” movie, basically a road trip buddy flick that happens to be a dark and dystopian (for mutants anyway) story instead of the usual comedy.

Spoiler alert!

A lot of references to the haves and have nots, life bordering on slavery with “boss man” showing up to stop a family from getting water for their house.  Finally the underground railway aspect really drives it home.

In the end I enjoyed it quite a bit.  A cinematically appropriate if sad final chapter for the great experiment of Charles Xavier.

We didn't like it at all.

And IQ largely enjoys comic book movies much more than I.

What were the things which turned you both off?

For the record, one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much was precisely because it wasn’t a typical comic book inspired movie. It made it more relatable in a way.

Oh sure, there could have been more of a backstory for what was going on. Perhaps an explanation as to what happened in the past (Westchester) and maybe some flashbacks showing how the mutant population dwindled.

Even without those niceties, I thought the movie held up fairly well.  A very refreshing change from the explosion laden blockbusters that are the norm for the genre.

Does anyone watch really bad movies just for a laugh sometimes?

We're watching "Cross Wars" right now, it's so incredibly bad it's entertaining.

Yes, much to my wifes chagrin, bad horror movies, bad action movies, craptastic movies that won oscars....if I watch the first 10 minutes of a movie, I have to finish it.
Lighten up Francis.....

Nope, I feel like that's just a waste of time when there is so much good content to consume.

Showgirls and Barbwire are two of my fave trashy movies.

Finished watching the new 4 hour documentary Rolling Stone: Stories From the Edge by Alex Gibney, about the last 50 years of the magazine.

If you have any interest in politics, culture, music, photography or writing, this is a must see. It's absolutely fantastic and I very highly recommend it.

Cool. I noticed it on Netflix the other night, will look fwd to watching. Didn't realize it was Alex Gibney - guy is a genius. Definitely check out his other work.

Speaking of good documentaries: I had a similar reaction to Icarus (also on Netflix). It's an incredible story that takes a crazy 180 degree turn halfway through, which you wouldn't believe if it were a movie. Probably the best thing i've watched this year.

Evil Dead is awesome. Wonder what the series is like...

I loved Bruce Campbell as Brisco County Jr...different show...but just as awesome.

Anyway, finally watched Baby, liked it.  Then watched the YT vid on all that's wrong with it. Yup. But it was still good.

^. I'm going to check out that Rolling Stone documentary.

Just watched the doc Daft Punk Unchained.  I didn't realize thse guys have been around for almost 25 years and were so influential  I'm not a huge fan of the genre but thought it was an interesting watch.

No, considering I watch an average of 1 movie a week.  I try to avoid them, unless it's a movie I grew up with, but then I usually watch that on my own.  I personally can't stand slapstick comedies.
