The 2005 era AMG SL65 v12 catches my eye.

But I'm afraid of the $144/hour shop rate at MB Winnipeg.

e39 M5 is one of my favorite cars of all time. May very well be my favorite sedan. So tempting.

If I could work on my own cars I'd do it for sure.

I wonder...what if you were diligent about checking out a specific specimen to confirm that it's ok...and just roll the dice. What are the chances that it grenades?

Maybe you get years of delightful ownership.

Local former Saab dealer still has a few new 95 and 93s around. Big discounts and promise of "warranty"

http://autocatch.com/used-cars/2011~saab~9-5~1105201.htm

33 K for a 9/5 sounds good but when that sucker breaks and it will break what then? Especially turbo engines. That Turbo fails..where will the "warranty" be.

I bet if someone buys it the next time we see it advertised in a year or 2 they will be asking 15 K :rofl2:

So very disappointed this didn't get more interest. What's wrong with you people. Update!

Most would rather dream about new cars they can't afford than used cars they can?

How about these babies?
http://wwwa.autotrader.ca/a/Porsche/Cayenne/NORTH%20YORK/Ontario/5_15413705_ON20080811142122191/?showcpo=ShowCPO
http://wwwa.autotrader.ca/a/BMW/X5/PARIS/Ontario/19_6567536_/?showcpo=ShowCPO

But that's the thing. As a younger man I used to dream about a lot of these cars. Now, with a budget of 30K-40K I can actually own one in reasonable condition!

I'd be very nervous of the maintenance costs of some of those though.

Looks like Enthusiast Auto Group in Cinci has quite a selection.  Road trip?

Also, regarding maintenance:  I take the 535 wagon to German Autotech on Colby Drive.  Great guys up there.  Yes it will be more expensive than a used domestic...but not stealership prices!   I'm tempted...

Exactly. This is why they have depreciated to such a level that you can afford it.

Yep.  It's one thing to pay $35k-$40k for a vehicle, but it's another thing entirely constantly shelling out $$$ on repairs and maintenance.  After reading how much Northernridge paid for an oil change for his MB, owning a post warranty FGC would scare the crap out of me.  LOL

Either a Pontiac GTO or a G8, healthy GM LS V8 under the hood, solid driveling and infinitely upgradeble. I would love me a FGC, but even the oil changes make my eyes water.
Lighten up Francis.....

That list is not unlike scoring a deal on a awesome looking home in a premier location then finding it out it's full of asbestos and top to bottom termites.

Certainly scary, but remember that ridiculous oil change price is more to do with the German stealership than the actual car.  Plenty of indy shops that specialize in FGCs in most areas.

Don't get me wrong, you'd still want to budget something like $3k per year for maintenance.  But at least the car itself isn't depreciating all that quickly anymore.  You might buy something for $35k and sell it for high-20s 5 yrs later.  So just consider the maintenance like the depreciation on a newer ride.

Not for the faint of heart I suppose.  A group that includes me until I man up and buy a 10yr old ride.

Too scary to take any of those unless its a 3rd car...and even then...
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.

Take the purchase price, double it and add $1000....that will be the first year....then after that it really starts to get expensive.
