I made the mistake of going into a local triumph dealer....they had one of these, I almost left my right nut there immediately

I prefer the Trident,  best looking small bike out there......outside of Adventure bikes of course

I like that. Back to the transalp the exposed headers cause me concern. A product of the parallel twin design?

there's also couple review of the not so "V" V-Strom 800de.

Almost 100 lbs heavier than the original.

New bikes aren't competing in the marketplace against old bikes, are they?  If it's a hundred pounds heavier that other segment competitors, then yeah, that's a deficit.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

No no, its a fair comparison. Why would it be so much heavier than the old model!?!?! That makes zero sense.
Lighten up Francis.....

Assuming your shopping choices are a new Transalp versus one from the '80s,, then yeah, the comparison matters.  But while absolute weight obviously matters, for comparative purposes current segment competitors are relevant.

Does the Honda weigh 100lb more than the CFMOTO?  Because that's what's being discussed.

It's like someone considering the new Z and responding by saying well, the new one weighs more than the original. So what?

Most people wont be driving them hardcore.   As nice as they look and offroad capable,   they will be used closer to a touring bike and companies knows that.

Of course.  But hey, Rob rides his Tiger 900 off road WAY more than most buyers, and that's got to weight more than the Transalp.

They are probably fairly descent on weight distribution.

it is by far my favorite one.   it's perfect size and I like that the fuel tank is a bit bigger than the other ones.

It's a butter face but no worse than most KTMs.

You bet it is. Don't worry just going riding.  ;)

It looks like it is 33 lbs heavier but it does have 110 HP so 19 HP more  to lug that extra 33lbs... Plus it is a 90 degree layout vs the parallel twin.. Sounds oh so nice.  ;D

Nice 4 piston brakes up front and 2 piston in the rear. 9" of suspension travel. 2 fuel tanks for almost 30L.

Yea, but the KTM with the offset crank and firing orders (285/435) mimics a V sound. The Honda at 270 degree order should do a nice job too.

When I test drove the KTM, it was an extremely convincing sound.

I was initially really irritated to hear KTM moving to a parallel twin since I think they sound terrible....my least favorite engine sound.

Was glad (relieved?) to hear of the offset crank/firing order.

But... but... but... the Honda is too heavy to take off road! So you're sticking to the street with the pricey desert machine?  :stick:

Transalp has a 270 degree crank and sounds pretty good.
