As riding season draws near again, finally, I find myself itching for a new machine.

I've narrowed it down (at least this week) to an '18 Z900RS or '18 Street Triple RS, both the same price and similar mileage.

My '14 STR was the best bike I've owned but my Z900 was a close second -- I just never warmed to its alien styling and the Z900RS solves that.  Plus we used one for a production in Japan a few years ago that was a really great time, so I have a soft spot for it from that too.

The past:00 BMW M Rdstr, 19 Jetta, 15 Ducati Scrambler, 09 Triumph Bonneville, 98 Boxster, 17 Kawi Z900, 05 LS 430, 99 LS 400, 17 Subaru STI, 14 Triumph STR, 15 WRX, 09 Ducati Monster 1100,  08 335i, 06 Suzuki SV650S, 06 330i, 06 MX-5, 04 Audi A4, 03 Suzuki SV650S, 98 328i, 93 Civic Si, 85 Corolla

That's tough - I really like both.  Fell in love with the Street Triple at the show and haven't been able to get it out of my head. It will probably be my next bike. A buddy of mine rides a Z900RS Cafe - just a beautiful bike with plenty of power and solid handling.

Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

This will be AMAZING!

SMT line were the best KTM road bikes IMO. Absolutely razor sharp handling, great power...yet all day comfort ergos suitable for real long hauls. Had few, if any, peers as far as ultimate all arounder goes.

After riding a 250 six days in Costa Rica for a week I need to get on getting a new 2 stroke.  It was uber entertaining keeping the 250 on the pipe (have to do that more than with the 300) but will likely end up with a 300. Will wait for the injection models to switch to TBI from the current TPI.

This fella or something like him.

Yeah it was a 2021 250 I think. TPI. TPI is ok but finicky, I don't trust oil injection, never have. KTM thought TPI  it might be the panacea for emissions but they are moving away from it. I will give them credit at least they are trying to develop 2 strokes still. Now they are moving towards TBI (which is a throttle body injector like the 4 strokes and the gas is premixed like the old days, no more oil injection. They must have their reasons. The XC-Ws will get TBI starting 2024 so got to put my money down soon for one of those.

Oh and the 250 2 stroke is way more entertaining and a smidge more powerful than a 4 stroke 350. We swapped bikes a few times. The 350 is more tractable but the 250 is the show off bike.  ;D

I'm having second thoughts about selling my 250. Think I may as well just hang onto it. Maybe I'll even get out for a ride or two this year.  ::)

Yeah don't sell. Get a dual sport kit and try to register for the road. It would be a hoot.

I think the 300 is the premiere off road bike. Love it.

Surprising low end grunt for a 2 stroke. And of course..big on top.

So much fun!

Kinda wondering about these, not obsessing yet...old KTM 790's from CFMOTO - only thing being it's a Chinese company...hmm...but this could be a good deal for what you're getting.
IBEX 800 TOURING 2023
Doesn't even look bad, and so far the reviews say it's built as good as the main JDM bikes...seeing as it's really an old KTM can't hurt, I guess?
$13,899 and it has CC, 2 riding modes, heated grips, 94 hp, quick shifter...a 5 yr warranty...might be a great bang for the buck bike.

Even the little 700CL-X HERITAGE looks like a fun little bike to ride, and it's based on Kawi's 650 CC twin...

It won't be this season, but this will be my next bike.  Fell in love with it at the show and absolutely cannot get it out of my head.

Have you looked at the upcoming Honda Transalp?  Reviews of the Hornet - with which it will share an engine - are extremely positive.  Especially on the engine.

I like that. Back to the transalp the exposed headers cause me concern. A product of the parallel twin design?
