Yeah I think it is  Tenere or the new KTM 890 Adventure Rally. The basic adventure has much less suspension travel and is likely to short for me.

Or some sort of old XR650 R..

Out of those two I'd get the T7 and Dakar the :censor: out of it.

My buddy Lawrence did a great video of one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuI9ha1XpfI

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Well done commercial. Surprisingly there are still 2020 Teneres for sale here in AB. A thorough reworking of the suspension, better bars and a few other do dads and it would be good to go. It still is 50-60lbs heavier than the KTM. I wish Yamaha and Honda could figure out how to drop weight.

So I went into Sturgess to see a few Triumphs in person.  They didn't have any of the two I am most interested in - Trident and Speed Twin.  But it was good to see a few bikes in metal just the same - including the Rocket 3 - what a beast!

Bad news on the whole taking the course / getting a license front, though.  Lockdown has forced a shudown of about 6 weeks of classes.  Now taking bookings for mid August - which wouldn't leave a lot of riding season remaining.  :(
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

:censor:, just get it booked ASAP, it will come around soon enough.

I'm seeing a lot of new Trident's popping up on social media, you need to get your order in!  ;D

Can't you get a written learners at any time, and then ride (with certain restrictions)?

It's been a while, but from what I remember I didn't get my full motorcycle license for some time

I think the issue (for him) is he has absolutely zilch for experience and is also trying to convince his wife this is safe.

I'm not sure learning to ride from scratch in a place like TO might be the best idea for either of those issues.

It doesn't look like it has rear brakes either.

Yes, that's the way it used to be unless it was changed recently.

You could write a test to get your beginners.

Note, this only applies to Alberta.

You only need the learners to do the Class 6 exam. Your Class 5 acts as a learners license as long as you have a Class 6 supervisor.

That one is stripped, obviously.

No signals, lights,  mirrors, etc

Yeah, I drove to Vancouver and back from northern Alberta with my learners (likely not recommended :)). Also spent a summer commuting in England with a scooter, so that must have worked there too

Ah, here we go:

To apply for a motorcycle licence in Ontario, you need to:

be at least 16 years old
    pass an eye test
pass a written test about the rules of the road and traffic signs

Once you pass these tests, you get an M1 licence. You are considered a beginner rider and need to practice riding and gain experience over time.

M1 licence

By law, if you have an M1 licence, you must:

maintain a zero blood alcohol level (no alcohol in your blood)
ride only during daylight hours (½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset)
wear an approved helmet (an exemption to Ontario’s mandatory helmet law applies for Sikh operators and passengers who meet the requirements outlined in Regulation 610 (6))
    not drive on roads with speed limits over 80 km/hour — except highways 11, 17, 61, 69, 71, 101, 102, 144 and 655
always drive alone - you may not carry passengers

You need to wait at least 60 days before you can take your first road test. Your M1 licence is valid for 90 days. If the licence expires, you will need to start over.

In Alberta you take the written Class 6 exam. Then you can ride with another full Class 6 supervising. Then Class 6 road test - after that you can ride alone.

I rode to my Class 6 road test by myself, took it, failed it (a total rip off btw - dude says I rolled a stop sign. Ummm ... no. My feet were on the ground - I'd know if I rolled it) then rode home solo.  :rofl2:
