Pretty quiet for motorcycle news....but I'm stoked for July 10th...Kawasaki will be revealing the new ZX-25R.  Inline 4, 250cc.  ~18,000RPm redline, ~50HP

I LOVED these (and the 400s) from the 90s.......I could ALMOST see myself buying one just to relive my youth!

Here's hoping this spawns more 250s (and please, please 400s!) with screaming high rev limits.
i checked their website and still no mention of this new 250.

Agreed, I've always wanted one of those. Until I saw the Brutale 1000 Serie Oro. Now I want one of those.

yea, i was doing some reading...my guess is it would be about $10k...likely a tough sell for a 250.

Which was the issue back during the 90s...my FZR400 was the same price as the FZR600. On the plus side, the 400 had an aluminum frame and the 600 did not.

It was a cool time back then...the under 400 bikes all had the factories biggest tech on them...in effect the flagship models.

The 400/250 class bikes of that era would still trounce anything modern in the same category today.

There is demand for race ready small displacement bikes. People buy R3s, RC390s, and Ninja 400s and can drop double the money installing racing bits.

Im actually considering a 300 as a track bike. They are cheap and should be more than terrifying enough for this newb

Like my Beamer but I need something that can pop the front wheel off the ground
why?

there's a lot of things i can see someone wanting in a motorcycle (and they've been mentioned here), but lifting the front wheel isn't one of them.

as well, most modern bikes have sensors in them to PREVENT that (they can be disabled if you so choose).

Thinking of changing bikes in the spring... Like my Beamer but I need something that can pop the front wheel off the ground
Yamaha MT-01 , KTM Duke, Buell XB12s,  KTM adventure,  any KTM Adventure/Dakar, Svitpilen 701......you get the idea....Power and handling!
I could do wheelies on my 690 Duke on demand. The best was crossed-up wheelies coming out of a corner..hero move for sure!

Want to do wheelies at 160km/h? Then you need the 1290 Duke R.

Sorta...  the long term RnineT Scrambler we had for Canada Moto Guide a few seasons ago proved problematic to each of the reviewers except me (by some miracle).

And the dealer costs are bonkers if you don't do your own maintenance. The one dealer I spoke to, their labor rate was MORE than a BMW car dealership!  Parts are pricey too.

coming out of corners, counter steer, rev  it, slingshot out on a wheelie.... the best!!

And the 690 made it so, so easy.  Leaned over, coming out of corner, pin it and let the torque do the work.

More than any bike I've owned, it made it look like I had more skill than I actually had.  Made me "better".  Could do crazy things on it like back into a corner with IQ on the back.  And it wasn't hard for me to do.

i guess these people with bikes that lift the front wheel had lots of fun:

I wouldn't ride like those guy and not in the city.  Back roads with a friend or 2. That's it.   Riding in Groups like that is a turn off.
most of those videos are on "back roads"...it just means you're farther from your house to get a lift home and get your bike towed back on a flatbed.

Good thing the riding season in MB is only 6 and a half days...lots of time to set it up in the living room and just stare at it then.

As a kid, I used to ride my bike everywhere with the front wheel lifted.  I got pretty good at it.  Then one day I was showboating and crashed in front of a large school audience.  #Loser  Lessons learned the hard way.

I do wheelies when nobody is watching.  I'm not very good at them, but I do want to be riding a bike that is capable of lofting the front wheel if necessary. (which is probably most bikes, except for Harleys)
