Geez...this is a lot of bike for the money.  2020 KTM 890 Duke R.  120HP, 366 lbs. High quality Brembos and fully adjustable suspension.  $12,500 CDN.

Must resist and wait for the new 490 Twins....

is that the dry weight?...as per fortnine, if it is, you can likely add about 80 lbs for the real weight (ready to ride).

Certainly not a Duke...or even a sportbike....or his scales are broken.

No sportbike...even the porkers from the 80s added 80lbs because of fuel, oil and coolant.

Duke has 14L fuel, 2.8L oil and 1.2L of coolant.  Do the math and let me know what you come up with (because I know the wet weight of the regular 790).

$12,500? How is that possible? 690 Enduro is $12,999. ???

I guess it’s made in India(?), like the 390?

KTM 690 enduro was more than the 690 Duke!!   ???

It's weird the way they do it.

The 390 for NA was assembled in Austria.  The 390 for a bunch of other places was done 100% in India.

I know in the US, the guys are going bananas because it's only $1k more than the 790.  Canada is the same.

Not sure if they're planning to produce somewhere else...but the early 790s were all Austria....in THINK later they were made somewhere else.  But I forget where.

the issue is there is no "standard" on advertising a bike's weight, except for the EU.

things like fluids, accessories (tool kit, bags, etc) can all be removed...the EU rating is the proper way to do it, but isn't standard here...the EU rating requires all fluids, 90% full fuel tank and all included accessories.

if you've got 10 minutes, watch it for yourself (it's #2 in this video at the 2:30 mark, but i'd watch the whole thing as it's a great video anyway):

But everyone lists whether it's Dry, Curb or Wet weight. So it's easy to calculate how heavy it will be.

And yea, some bikes with huge gas tanks will be drastically different wet to curb.

But this isn't the case with sporting bikes as they typically have pretty small fluid capacities tanks.

At $21k I would probably just settle for the regular Adventure R  ;D Unless it is end of days.

from what i can find online, they seem to put the wet weight at 415-420 lbs...don't get me wrong, but like fortnine, i'd prefer the actual real weight...it would be nice if the EU regulations were standard everywhere.

The actual on the scale weight ready to ride is 414lbs. (+/- a pound or 2 for scale error) for the 790.

The 890R is supposed to be 3 kilo lighter.  So 410-ish.  So ~80 more HP than my 390 was with only a ~70lb weight penalty.

Wow...just wow.

That'll make a great started bike.  I've always wanted a bike but have always had a hard time justifying one.  I might have to look into it again.

ooo...interesting...it's that sweet spot for engine size too (commuter bike)...powerful enough to have fun, without being bonkers and expensive.

why did you sell your 390?...you didn't have it long (one season?).

Does anyone else find the constant adding CC's weird? They announced development of the 890 soon after the 790 launched.  Then it will be the 990 again, and they will start with another smaller one.

For all manufacturers, why not just define a few key displacements (like 300cc, 650cc, 900cc), and refine them at their current size..?
