I went with heated glove liners instead. I want my entire hands warm, not just what's in contact with the grips.

Good grips bake your hands...never had an issue with the tops being cold.

My Honda ST had heated grips and they worked amazingly well. Far better than the pathetic ones I’d experienced on snowmobiles.

I have heated gloves for skiing now. I’d use those if I went motorcycle touring.

The last time I owned a snowmobile was in the early 1980s, so to be fair the tech probably wasn't very good then.

The grips on my ST worked very well at keeping my hands warm, though my hands did sit out of the wind.  I haven't tried heated grips on a bike without a fairing.

Check into a Kawasaki Drifter 800....I see them frequently for quite cheap....

With just an aftermarket springer seat, these things look quite nostalgic. Styling was approved by Indian.

i think the new Suzuki C90 BOSS looks pretty decent...all blacked out trim (wheels, engine, pipes, etc) and a nice dark metallic silver paint scheme on the body parts...i think it's a pretty nice bike for $13k brand new.
