Not sure if vaporware
Interesting premise

meh...that thing will likely be a fortune...plus, you need their fancy HUD helmet to have any instrumentation...pass.

if you want an electric bike, just get the Livewire:

This thing has more range than my HP2S had!  :o

i'm no Harley fan boy, nor am i a Harley hater, but that Livewire is impressive...they brought out some prototypes in 2014 to gauge interest and feedback from riders...they even took them on tour...the Livewire isn't something HD whipped up in a month and rushed to market...it's many years in the making.

Sure...but $40k is a lot of cheddar.

Not sure it will sell that well..especially when the thump and sound of a Harley big twin is one of the reasons people buy one.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

today's $40k is yesterday's $20k...in all seriousness though, all the really good stuff is expensive...it will come down eventually, just like EV cars.

i'm guessing their target market isn't the traditional HD rider...their target demographic is someone who wants a really good EV bike...i'm sure that market now isn't that large, but it is likely to grow over time, so having your name in the hat early on can be advantageous (unless everything ends up a disaster, but i can't see that happening here, this bike has likely been about 8 years in the making).

Nice!!
690 next?

Sent from my BLA-L29 using Tapatalk
It's high on the list!

I missed the power of the 690 honestly. Otherwise the 390 is a stellar bike.

I'm actually selling my bike and car for another car I'm going to take a shot at...

Bike is sold, tentative offer on the car (they need to arrange financing).

Hopefully everything comes together before prospective car is sold

Yep....

There's a car I want to take a try at...

But my car has to sell (quickly) to make it happen...

It's far from certain at this point...

sooo...i noticed Suzuki has a deal on now...2018 Burgman 400 (same as 2019, but in black instead of white)...$500 rebate, 5.49%/60 month finance rate, 5 year warranty...i might pop by the dealer tomorrow and have a peak.

i like the BMW C400GT, but a couple of things bother me...one is the engine...it's a 350...why the eff is it called a 400 (maybe it's me, but that bugs me)...secondly, the BMW has traditional "springs" on the rear whereas the Burgman has a monoshock set up (like a motorcycle)...apparently, the BWM is also made by a Chinese company (or at least, the engine?)...i've got nothing against the Chinese, but if i'm buying a BMW, i kinda want a BMW...lastly Ron seems to mention the Burg is likely bulletproof (i'd also be a little worried about a BMW for reliability)...factor in the special rates, slight discount and 5 year warranty, seems like a good deal...not likely anything will happen tomorrow, but if anyone is looking, might not be a bad time to check them out.

Taiwanese* I think Kymco makes all BMW scooters. Kawasaki also rebrands Kymco scooters as their own. They’re fairly well built and reliable.

i'm not sure...just one of the reviews i watched mentioned the Chinese company (sounded something like "Lo-Shane")...i've heard of Kymco, and i've heard pretty good things about them though...in any case, it's unlikely i'll do anything about it, but i might head down there today to take another look at it...they have a 2019 on the floor, but i think if i were to buy one, i'd get the 2018 since i think i'd prefer the black over the white colour.

On the big BMW 650GT, the engines are made by Kymco and the vehicle is assembled in Germany. Engines in these aren't problematic. I've been shopping these hard..though a second generation (2016+) vs the first gen (2013) which seemed to have a few bugs. The 2016 are hard to find used for a decent price because new, with the Highline Package, they were $15k+ out the door.

If the new Burg 400 had some of the luxury items I wanted as found on the C650GT, new Forza or new 530DX (last 2 not available here) I'd have one in my garage. Quality and attention to detail is up over the 2010 Limited I had (which was very good already)..plus the new 15" front wheel makes a difference for stability. The engine is retuned and is peppier and more frugal...though this wasn't an issue with the old engine as it made plenty of power. I added aftermarket rollers which made it even better. I looked at a 2018 and was impressed with the improvements. Mostly subtle...but noticeable to me.

I'd have a new Burg 400 over the BMW 400. And if buying used, I'd also strongly consider a Honda Forza 300...incredibly fair prices in those with tons of aftermarket support to make it uniquely yours.

Mine was dead reliable...used daily rain or shine..and was the scooter that made me "get" why they are so popular in other parts of the world.

i didn't end up going down there today, but may during the week...i got thinking about it a bit more...if i were to get one, i'd likely just get the 2019 model they have in the showroom...i wasn't thinking i'd get white, but come to think of it, that black would show every piece of dirt on it, so maybe the white is better anyway...also, the 2019 has full LED lighting, so there's that.
