My 911 was pristine, not a single ding, and so I wanted to keep it that way. I would NEVER park over two spots. That's just asking for someone to key your car. Also, parking at the empty end of the lot is also asking for trouble from vandals. No, park away from everyone else, but just close enough that your car is still "in the group." Multi-level parking lots usually have pillars, and there are often spots with a pillar on each side. Even one pillar is good, snuggle up to it and leave lots of room on the other side.
End spots are good, but right or left is a dilemma. If you park on the right end, you'll have someone on your left, meaning less chance of a ding as there is always a driver, but not always a passenger. But, I find passengers more likely to ding someone, so...
The Forester is great in that I can park ANYWHERE I like and never worry. I'm the car that everyone is trying to park away from!! Honestly, I would have been VERY tempted to squeeze my Scoob in beside that Aston, parking 1mm from his driver's door.
