Ya, But Can Your Truck Tow a Space Shuttle?
« on: September 13, 2012, 08:40:57 am »

I wonder how much Toyaota paid to have a Tundra tow it that last bit.  No doubt there will be lots of cameras rolling so they can make a commercial about a Japanese truck towing an American space icon.

I dont understand publicity stunts such as these......you want to impress me with your truck toyota??? Tow a Bobcat on a trailer up Rogers Pass or a camping trailer at almost your full capacity in the hills near Kelowna or Osoyoos when its almost +40 with the a/c on or come down a steep hill with a heavy trailer to see how good the engine braking is or if you have to burn your brakes out. Those are the kind of real life tow tests that I would be impressed/interested in me. Myself or any of the people I know have never been asked to help move our dads space shuttle around....  :shake:
Lighten up Francis.....

Agreed, but either way I can see some higher ups at Ford blowing a gasket upon hearing this. The Tundra although Toyota is Japanese are built in Texas.

That animal became base commander just when I was getting out. My buddies stationed in Trenton said they got a lot of flack from the general public just because they were part of the forces, buddy of mine actually got punched in the face just because he was military after Williams was caught.

It's all about eyeballs, publicity stunts work. Think about all those truck buyers (see F150 thread) who use them only as a big car.

What's worse: A ford F150 with a Harley Davidson logo on it or a Tundra pulling a space shuttle?

Facking marketers.  ;D

I think he's talking about the Coquihalla Connector, for one.  It has the longest steepest grades of any major highway in North America.  Don't you watch Highway Thru Hell?

Highway 5, the Coquihalla, gains about 1000m / 3300', as does 97C, the Connector.

There are plenty of other huge climbs on secondary roads in his area, and it gets very hot in the summer.  The Coq has a patch of fried pavement on the shoulder about every kilometer where someone's vehicle has burned up.
And some cretins think I hate cars.

Actually that would be a perfect testing site. Load up the truck to almost maximum GCWR and go up and down a few times. If there are no fires, you can still brake, the a/c doesnt make the truck overheat and you dont lose control then Ill be impressed. Thanks man, I completely forgot about the Coq!!
