Watch a bit. Women's beach volleyball is enjoyable. :) I do prefer the winter olympics.

Men's 100m final is setting up to be something special.  Gatlin for America is blazing fast.  Bolt is hard to figure - he won both the heat and the semi so easily it's hard to guage.  If he's on form, he can't be touched.  But if he's off, both Gatlin and Blake could blow past him.  I'm hoping to see the world record fall.

Jamaica rules the sprints.  Gold and bronze for the women's 100.  Gold and silver (Bolt, Blake) for the men.  All from a country about one third the size of Maine.  Very proud of my peeps today.  :)

Bolt was amazing, so close to a world record!

I figured there was slim chance of a WR, given that Bolt false started out of his last major competition and was sure to be extra cautious in the final.  Sure enough, he was either last out of the blocks or close to it yesterday.  But once he hit his stride, he was in another league.  He's taking longer strides than anyone else and taking them just as quickly.  Amazing when you see him just pull by the field the way he did.

BTW - did you catch that some ^%$^% threw a bottle in behind the runners just after they were called to the "set" position?  Obviously trying to cause a false start.  Gatlin said he heard it hit behind him and Bolt, but didn't know what it was.

The %^%$ happened to be sitting beside a Judo competitor who promptly pancaked him and turned him over to security.  Here's hoping that public flogging is still an availabe punishment in England.

I was thoroughly impressed with the trampoline competitors.  With all the height, twists, turns and spins they make, they still land on their feet.  Pretty cool.

Stupid sure. Worth an arrest, after being punched in the face by a Judo wrestler? No. But whatever... goes hand in hand with the 11km electrified fence around the stadium.

:winner: :fall: What a soccer game!

Too bad the ref sucks...one bad call and the US is tied up again...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgh!

Ref has made some bad calls on both sides.  Strange she is officiating such an important game with such...umm...questionable abilities.
