So they took everything out of it that made it a pathfinder and now its just another CUV....too bad, this will be larger Murano basically.
Lighten up Francis.....

I am SOOOO (don't usually write like that) disappointed in this Pathfinder. We had two from the early 2000's and both were great family rigs when our kids were small. Perfect size, functional, decent engine, kind of rugged (took them camping). This looks like everything else...I see the Acadia/Traverse in particular.

I sure hope Toyota doesn't F-up the 4Runner like this. My personal bias towards truck-based, body-on-frame 4X4 SUVs is showing.

Despite it no longer being a truck based SUV, it will be a huge sales success.  The fuel economy compared to the competition is amazing. My gut feeling is it will probably appeal to customers that aren't former owners of Pathfinders or truck based SUVs.

I guess they realized people only drives these to the mall.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.

Has the neutering of the Ford Explorer affected it's sales any?  Maybe Nissan is going down the same path if Ford is OK?

Any news on the XTerra going forward?

An off-roading friend of mine owns an older PF (with snorkle, winch and custom diff plate), and is VERY disappointed in the soccer-momification of this vehicle.

Hard to say with the recession affecting sales for a few years. It doesn't look like the redesign has hurt.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Exactly, 95% of people that buy these things don't see much worse off road than a camp road - it has 4WD and enough ground clearance for what just about anyone who is interested in this segment wants. I think it will be a huge sales success - especially with that slide and latch system that allows you to have a babyseat in the second row and still gain access to the 3rd row. We might very well have picked this thing up instead of our Odyssey.

Does seem to borrow HEAVILY on the styling side though from the Highlander IMO. Not a bad thing as I find that vehicle to be very attractive but I think Nissan could have come up with better.
My other Honda is an MP4-31!

It makes sense, really. Off-roaders still have the Xterra (for now) and the Pathfinder has always been more of a family-vehicle - now it just falls more in line with what families are using the vehicle for. It certainly is a buyers market if you're looking for a compact or mid-sized SUV these days, the options are almost overwhelming.

At least they should change the name to: MallFinder  ;D

Then people could say,

"Wow that's a great new MallFinder, how is it for parking at the mall?"
"Great, the bumper is pretty sturdy...hard to find in the lot though 'cause it looks like everything else."
"Gee, you wouldn't want to stand out would you?"
"Gosh no. Plus the malls are programmed into the GPS"
"Wow. I heard that Nissan used to make something called a PathFinder...you could drive it off road."
"...Offroad...you mean like on the boulevard?"
"I guess."

LOL, Mallfinder, they could have a Latte, Designer Purse and lapdog edition to really embrace its new customers. I dont know what the whole soft roader obsession is, I guess I just dont get it. When someone says SUV to me I think Jeep Cherokee, Chev Tahoe, Land Rover Defender, Ford Bronco......these new things are just all minivans but without the handy sliding doors.

Isn't this basically an Infiniti jx

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
That's what my neighbours with the brand new JX told me.  Wasn't the Pathfinder a unibody design anyway?  I'm a bit mystified by all this talk about how the truckiness has been taken out of it when it didn't have any in the first place.  Now, if people were talking about the Xterra I would understand.

It had a solid rear axle, a proper 4x4 transfer case, ground clearance and could take quite the beating. Theyve taken all of that out of it now thats its a glorified minivan.
