Bob, I bike from Red Bay to Stokes Bay (where that pic was taken) all summer. I'm going to have to buy that print from you for the cottage....friend prices.

 ;)

 ;D Sure.

What she said, this isn't a comp, just a place to share.  I like your second shot of the two chairs, it's great!

I just don't have time to comment on every photo posted.   :)

I would also add that I'm usually less inclined to comment if there are a bazillion pics in one post.  I try hard to just post what I think is my one best shot for that day/outing.

I took this with my phone last week. Maybe not photography, but I liked it.
Looks a little flat there   ;D

I've been here three years now, and I still can't get over just how flat it is when I leave town for the open prairie.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

You mean the one with the 2 chairs? Hmmm I had not thought of that, I'll try and see what that looks like, thanks

NO!  The one with the fog and the water and the trees!  Did I get the title wrong?
I guess I did not see it at first and I thought you got the title wrong...'cause the chairs were more crooked. I was on a crooked floating dock when I took both. I'll fix it.

Shot of a young turkey vulture at Hilton Falls on the weekend.  A) It's really rare to catch them this way (relaxed, and airing out their wings), as they are quite astute to all sounds and usually fly away if they hear anything that sounds threatening.  B)  I was shooting from a very uncomfortable spot through the trees on a rock, and C) had to shift to manual focus to blur out the branches and D) he was gone within 30 seconds of this shot, as other people with noisy kids began to approach.

I'm quite pleased.  God, I love my L glass.  ;D

Wow, great  catch Brig.  Cool, I've been trying to get a good shot of one of these for a while, never see them lit though.

Yea...sure is a great shot!!  You sure don't realize how big they are until you're up close.

They must be more skittish out your way.  If they are eating something on the side of the road, we can usually get to within 20 feet of them without them flying away.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Thanks, Blur and Wink!  I was liking how the light was hitting the outstretched feathers, and the rare opportunity to shoot him (maybe her?) in a happy, yay-me-I'm-awesome-and-just-chilling moment.  I have hiked what seems like a bazillion kilometres in my life with a camera and have seen some amazing things, but this is what makes it worthwhile.  Right place, at the right time.

As usual, some real great shots by the good photographers here.

One from me, not so great: Blue Moon in Port Alberni (actually taken the night before.  Turns out there were no clouds on the full moon night, so I am glad I did some experimenting before  :) )

I missed a great photo opportunity yesterday.  Still kicking myself.
We were out for a walk along the lake when I saw a frog sitting along the edge in some floating weeds, appeared to be the same frog that posed for me a few days earlier so I already had photos of him.  I decide to take a little closer look at him as I  noticed this strange snake-shaped stick in the water right next to him.  Instead of pulling out the camera then I took one step too many towards the frog, he jumped, the snake-like stick jumped, I jumped (a little), then cursed my having missed the shot.   The snakes head was not 6" from the frog when I scared him, but at least the frog lived to see another day.  The snake was probably pissed at me.

Take photos first, don't miss opportunities.
