Anybody else notice what I think is being called "title creep"?  Like, everyone wants a more important sounding job title to the point where being a Vice President is almost meaningless.  Got a proposal for professional services on my desk today, and the document included a summary/background info on their staff.  8 of the 11 people employed are at least VP!?!?  The admin who looks after their office, answers the phone, etc is the VP of Operations?!?!  FFS

While I am complaining / yelling at clouds, the slow death of actual online forums is mildly depressing and concerning.  I used to participate or at least read a few Canadian beer forums....The Bar Towel, Brewnosers, and the Canada section at BeerAdvocate.  All slowly dying, and if you don't check in for a few months you might only miss a handful of posts.  The BeerAdvocate forum in particular is dead with the exception of the spring and fall trading/exchange threads.  I've noticed that the General forum at BeerAdvocate is still fairly busy, but the traffic is either people re-posting "what are you drinking now" which is mirroring social media posts, or it's the older, retired guys talking about beer history.  I guess for the most part everyone has moved on to social media, which really doesn't do justice to proper discussion.

The old guys on the GMC motorhome email list  are upset it's been screwing up lately and most of them don't want to use the online forum because it's modern and confusing to them, they like their even more confusing email threads.
There are several Facebook groups, being Facebook it's a place of great misinformation.

I think a lot of these types of discussions have also moved to Reddit, which has its own issues, but is also quite useful IMO.

Reddit has both the best and the worst of the internet on it.  I like r/interestingasfuck and r/engineeringporn
I don't find it particularly good for conversing, too hard to keep track of threads

I get more irritated with "mission creep" where those guys with the title creep positions think that I can do 2-3 times additional job duties because it's "no big deal".

We made our son call all the insurance companies himself....So he could learn to do it himself and see that this is part and parcel of driving/owning a car.

He also found the best rate at Lowestrates.ca

Being within five years of retirement, my plan was to buy a new car when I packed it in.

However, first generation Genesis sedans seldom appear for sale, especially with so few kilometres, so I thought I'd have a look.

I was offered $10k for the Corolla, which I thought was a fair trade-in value, and the Genesis price was right in the ballpark.

Ultimately, I decided to stick to my original plan and buy new when I retire.

The Corolla is the right car for $2/L gas, so I'll spend a few bucks on tinting and, maybe, the TRD lowering springs.

Great plan!  Here's hoping for an epic "what should I buy" thread!  :drive2:

Oh, it will be epic.   :rofl2:

Definitely fair.  Only issue I see, will you even be able to buy a Hemi new in 5 years?  Or even a V6 for that matter?

That's a good question.  I hope there's ICE car I like available in five years.

I have little doubt that ICE cars aimed at enthusiasts will still be available.  Look at the 370Z....that will have a loooonngg product life cycle, and it was just released.  Also, no way electric cars will be cheap enough the serve the entire market.....sales share will not go from 10% to 100% in 5 years.

I know you won't be looking for an SUV, but for example I would not be surprised if the next gen Pilot is electrified to some extent....but if Honda thinks the average family looking for a 3-row is going to drop $80k on an all electric one, watch them collect dust.  They will at the very least need to offer a gas/hybrid to keep pricing palatable.
I was speaking more towards the type of cars that Bubba typically goes for.  No more ICE chargers, challengers, 300's.  The only V8 sedans seem to be all high end stuff, and finding just a V6 is getting impossible.  I'm sure Hyundai will still have an N vehicle or two, performance compacts and what not, but does Bubba really want something like that?  Might only be the Mustang with a car that is somewhat affordable with a V8, but then you're driving a Mustang year round.

Well our prayers have been answered:

At the bottom of the mountain where we’re staying, and just off the highway is Cooter’s…basically a Duke’s of Hazard museum! Going to check it out today or tomorrow.
