Interesting new phone scam...my wife gets a call and they say it's Amazon Prime and they would like our authorization for a Macbook purchase for $1400. Just press #1 to reject the purchase.
I wonder what happens if you think it's real and press 1?
That is a new one! I’ll be warning my parents, that would send my Mother into an instant panic (even though they don’t have an Amazon account )
We knew it was a scam as my wife never gives out her phone number, so Amazon certainly doesn't have it and anyway, the account is in my name.
Another weird one...a couple of days ago I was paying bills, my AMEX has an $11.29 charge from Amazon for membership.
I check my other card statement as I'm sure I pay with Mastercard, yup, sure enough, there are previous membership charges on it. I go to Amazon Prime and check my payment methods, they have my Mastercard and my old AMEX that expired months ago.
Call AMEX, they don't know how the charge got on my bill, (it was the only charge, I haven't used the card in maybe a year or more and didn't think the new card was even activated) so they take it off. I want to cancel my account, but they talk me out of it.
Later, I'm going through Amazon Prime and find where I can look at receipts for monthly fees, which this month went up from $9.99 to $11.29, sure enough, there's the charge on my AMEX, all others for previous months were on my Mastercard, plus the AMEX they have expired months ago.
Just weird.
