I'm doing it.  I spoke to my old boss over the weekend, and he thinks it's a great idea.  He was actually next in line for the job, and had he stayed on, would likely have automatically fallen into the role.  He thinks that my character would actually be a better fit for the job than his (I'm less of a technical mind than he, but more of a people person).  He confirmed that there is zero downside to applying, and even if I don't get the job, it marks me as a motivated individual in the minds of my higher ups. 

I'll be submitting my cover letter and resume today, and then we shall see from there.  I think that I at least merit an interview, and given the propensity of this company to hire and promote from within, I"ll probably at least get to that stage.

Excellent, good on you. Definitely sounds like a good idea to apply... even if you don't get this post they'll likely keep you in mind when there are other jobs coming up.

Definitely a 2nd vehicle for my spouse.  She doesn't drive stick, therefore hasn't driven the Mazda since we got it.  I'm pulling driving duty 100% of the time.  If I get this manager position, I won't be able to take our daughter to a lot of her activities, and my spouse will also be on her own for some of her outings.  Therefore we'll need a second vehicle for sure. 

Anyway, this is all a big IF.  The job posting closes on the 27th, so I still have nine days to wait and see if I even get an interview.

It's funny, now that I've applied, I actually feel a LOT more serene about it.  I lost a TON of sleep over the weekend just thinking about it.  Now that I've done it, and it's out of my hands, I'm far less worried/nervous/anxious.

Not sure how far the US/NATO can push this beyond sanctions?  Ukraine isn't a NATO state.

Could you imagine if Donald Trump was in office?  He would have insisted on invading Ukraine WITH Putin!!
