Wait a minute....a movie theatre that is comfortable, has reserve seating, and isn't a total rip off?  Sign me up.  The big question is, DO THEY SERVE BEER

Yes.  At the concession stand.  It's Mainstream 'beer', though, so take it with a grain of salt.  They also serve 'cocktails' - mostly sugary vodka drinks in a can.

^ Ya, the Landmark cinema in Saskatoon is great also.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

The highlight of the night was the movie, though.  We went to Landmark Theatres at Grant Park, which will mean something to Winnipeg peeps, but nobody else.  It was renovated before COVID, and honestly, I don't think we'll ever go to another movie theater other than this one, ever again, even though it's clear across town from where we live.

You see, the seats are like nothing I've ever experienced in a theatre.  You're literally sitting in a soft leather, power-reclining loveseat couch.  And you have like 6' of legroom in front of you.  You reserve your seats when you book your movie tickets, so no need to show up extra early just to get good seats.  And at $12.50 for a ticket, it's not outrageously priced, either.

Honestly, I never liked going to movie theatres, mostly because I never found them comfortable.  I always felt squished in on all sides.  But this changes things.  Big Time.  I loved loved loved the experience.

It's a nice experience. We've had that at our local Cineplex for a while now but it's not that cheap from what I remember. They even bring you food and beer to your seat, as long as you order before a certain time before the movie starts.

We have that... the VIP theatre.  18+, I think.  This is not that.  This is more like a 'regular' theatre, but with baller seating.

The Keg is $80 a head? I don't think the food is good enough for that price.

I don't particularly think so either, but it's all relative.  It's not THAT much more than places like Boston Pizza that are just re-heating a bunch of prepared/frozen garbage.

Car related but didn't wanna make a new thread.

Friend of mine is driving her ex's Rav4 Hybrid Limited which is her ex's lease. She wants to take over the lease next month officially since the lease is an amazing deal.

A quick search shows theres a $400+tax fee for the transfer, and I believe it can be done at any Toyota dealer. I assume he has to be there for paperwork?

Fee may be negotiable; but it's usually more than that. The transfer fee for Mrs. Hire's 328d Wagon was like $1,499 or something and we negotiated it down to $1,000.

That said, $400 is cheap and the dealer will want something for their time (there's quite a bit of paperwork involved, including credit checks and all, and there's really nothing further in it for them).

Yes, I'd assume he has to be there for paperwork, both the lessor and new lessee usually need to be present.

Welp, we're buying my Aunt's nice double-oven stove and replacing our old kitchen stove with it.  Really, really missing my truck right about now.  I'm gonna have to go rent a UHaul pickup truck, and after mileage, gas and insurance, I'll be out about $50-$60.

I think I'll install a trailer hitch/wiring harness on the car this winter.  It's far cheaper to just rent a little utility trailer, and for small jobs, the car will be more than capable!

Yeah, that's the only time I miss having a truck.  Picking things up was a non issue every time.

The Highlander has carried a stove home though, so it has that going for it.

$315 for a hitch and harness from Uhaul, install myself in about an hour.  I think I'll do that over the winter.  utility trailers are $15.95 for a half day.  Far more economical to rent a small trailer to move bulky items than to rent a truck.  Added bonus of using a hitch bike rack, too, should the need ever arise (think camping trip with canoe on roof rack, and bikes behind car).

Yeah. I loved having the Yukon, but now that my house and my parents' house both have just sedans/coupés, sometimes the lack of an SUV can be annoying. Mrs. Hire's station wagon is fine most of the time, however.

We have one of those, a super ratty '05 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 4.8 that we use to plow the yard in the winter... it's mostly total junk but Firm insists that if I spend the four dollars to clean it up a bit, it'd be much better. I'll get around to it at some point...

You cannot make a 4.8l better with a couple of dollars
The 5.3l was so much better
Had a 2000 Chevy LE with 4.8l than moved to 2003 GMC SLE with 2003 with 5.3l it was much better , keep that until 2011 when I got another Chevy LTZ with 5.3l and 6 speed , again a much better truck

I had a 2002 with a 4.8, it was unspectacular in it's performance, but was dead on reliable and sipped fuel, for a 4x4 pickup of that era.
