For every box, your're supposed to add 2 Kraft singles.

That fixes everything.
Even the pasta recipe changed, it all goes to bits when boiled. Utter rubbish.

I've never seen that either.  I do have the texture of those noodles as a fond childhood memory.  Especially when accompanied by sliced-up hotdogs.   :D  And some ketchup!  My parents did cook normal food most of the time, but every now and then... they let us have that.  We wolfed it down like it was the best thing ever.   :lick:

How about variations?

4 (or more) slices of thick cut bacon, baked on a sheetpan in the oven.

Then diced and added to the KD.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

For every box, your're supposed to add 2 Kraft singles.

That fixes everything.

That's ridiculous.  IMO nothing beats preparing some quality elbow pasta and adding freshly shredded Bothwells aged cheddar (a fine MB cheese producer). Really not any harder than making KD and 10x the taste.
We're talking plain old KD.

Yes, of course home made is a zillion times better..especially topped with panko, then baked.

I mean...is this even news? That something made from scratch tastes better?

FWIW, Instant Pot is great for cooking most pasta.

My point is why the box when making from "scratch" takes about the same amount of time?  Definitely using real cheese will cost more but dried elbow macaroni is cheap.

^^Yea, it's the cheese that can REALLY ramp up the price on made from scratch..depending on number/quality of cheese used.  And one of the hallmarks of KD (and similar) is CHEAP.

Also...I generally (not sure about others) don't keep large quantities of quality cheese on hand....whereas I ALWAYS have a few boxes of KD in the pantry for emergencies.

^^We're not huge cheese eaters.

Particularly IQ, where it wasn't a staple of her diet.

My mom, who lives in WI, brings us a load of cheese 1-2 a year and that's usually enough.

We both REALLY like cheese curds though!!

And I generally have a half a dozen of these things I make I call "Keto Grab Bags".  Dried Kabanos sticks, pecans and a chunk of cheese.  IQ and the kid love them.

I have never eaten KD.    I have made mac and cheese for Mrs Tpl with a proper cheese sauce from scratch as she likes it sometimes.  I don't like it.     For me if there is a cheese sauce I want cauliflower under the sauce with bacon on the side.

I’ve made this on a cold winters night in the past. Delicious and rich AF!

Some white wine and bam!

I LOVE Ina Garten!  She rocks, and has been around a long time.  Her early COVID posts were hilarious.  She was one of the few that kept me sane back then.

Next time I'm in Windsor I'll bring them back for you. Of course at the rate Windsor gets out of the red zone, Ron might have his new IS500 by then.
