Yeah, pretty normal to follow highways, rivers, etc. when the weather is bad. Even when the weather is good, lots of VFR flying around airports is based on landmarks on the ground.

Thought i was going to a super bowl party this weekend at my wife's boss's house.  He told me it was potluck and to bring something to eat.  Asked my wife a few minutes ago what i should bring and she laughs and says he's in Florida until next week.

Funny part is that I missed it last year for some reason and he was busting my balls about it when i saw him at their Xmas party.  Told me no excuses and to be there this time, or else...lol.  Now he's not even going to be here and he's too forgetful to let me know.  Wonder how many others were expecting to go.  At least I'll have something to bust his balls over next time.   ;D

Cleetus McFarland buys a track.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25Iy2DqMMQg&t=424s

I have to hand it to them.  They're rednecks, and their style may not be for everyone, but man, they have race fuel flowing through their veins.  And, no matter what you think of their content, they've always made an effort to have fun with cars in a LEGAL way, on tracks and closed circuits.

There are far too many youtube channels out there with spoiled trust fund kids with supercars who act like complete buffoons on public roads.  The Cleetus team actually act responsibly, and save their hooliganism for the track.  And now they've gone and bought an old abandoned oval with an in-field track.  Good for them!!!

Super weird. Had never heard of this guy. Saw this post. Went to Facebook and liked a new local restaurant. After I did that Cleetus McFarland came up as a related page.

I think you pasted the wrong link though.

Oh, haha, yes I did.  Fixed.

If you've never heard about Cleetus, it's a team of mostly 3 guys who build and race a couple of Drag Cars.  They have Leroy The Savage, a 7 second stick-shift Corvette, as well as Ruby, an 8 second Corvette.  They also have a bunch of other vehicles, including a Crown Vic into which they installed a Supercharged motor from a Mustang GT500, and turned into a burnout/drift car, an LS powered Nissan 240, a bonafide circle track Nascar Truck, and a bunch of other crazy vehicles.

They're BIG into LS's, and focus most of their energies on that platform.

Haha, he'd actually be ok with that.  He's always telling us to drop by and use the pool, and drink his beer, even when they're away in the summer.

OMG.  Wife recovering from surgery, child #1 has gastro/vomiting, child #2 has ear infection.  Our (healthy) mundane daily routine is looking very appealing at the moment.

The saving grace is that I control my schedule and it's not a problem to schlep kids to the doctor or run home to check on my wife, etc.  Fortunately this doesn't happen very often....we are pretty strict on good (but not obsessive) hand washing, eating relatively well, vitamins, etc.  Just a blip that thankfully I can see the end of.

I have renewed appreciation for single parents, though.

Looking at new glasses.  As part of the fitting, they measured the center to center distance of my eyes, and the angle that the lenses sit at when i'm looking ahead, and also the distance from the lens to my eyeball.

I said, you can't do that over the internet, can you?  The guy doing the measuring laughed, and said, 'I wish I could get a few people to understand that'.

No. You get your test and then send that info to an online retailer.

Sold the XJR... for a handy five-figure profit. Anyone who said the facelifted X358s are the "most reliable" was lying.
