I just don't understand how some people can be such :censor: :censor: that they just leave their trash on the side of the trail.  I mean, how hard is it to pack in what you pack out?  It's not like that empty bottle weighs much.  Most people hike/walk with a backpack, or at the very least have pockets.

This x1000. Now I cannot call myself an avid hiker, but the times I have been, I couldn't imagine just tossing trash out into pristine wilderness. Hell, I field strip my cigarette butts and put them in a ziploc bag till I get back to trail head. Some people children......
Lighten up Francis.....

I found this article about how to fix Everest very interesting.  Hundreds of three-foot high piles of human excrement?  I don't mountaineer, but it still pisses me off, probably because I've seen how certain parts of the Bruce Trail have turned into frigging Disneyland for the selfie crowd, and ruined it for everyone.

https://www.outsideonline.com/2398393/everest-problems-crowding-solutions

The problem with public spaces is the public. The solution is simple just like the article stats but I'm sure humans will ruin Everest first.

There are peaks I won't climb because they are popular and filled with stupid people. I've skipped doing Mall of Washington (Mount Washington NH) just because they ruined it and are still trying to make it worse by adding a hotel to the top.

When we hiked to Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon it was over crowded and using the privy gave a whole new meaning to 'hovering' due to the fact it was full to the rim. Sad.

Just one wheelbarrow we saw filled with empty bottles that people left on the trail.

To get to these magical falls.

I can't tell you where my favourite place to go is because you will go there and ruin it for me.

My friend did Yosemite last summer and he said it was nuts.  Likely won't go back again.  Also, like Everest, you can hire "sherpas" at Machu Picchu to carry your stuff, so that the trek isn't so hard on you.   ::)  Just knowing that makes me want to avoid it.

A few years ago, we went back to the Fathom Five National Park on Flowerpot Island near Tobermory.   My first time there was 8 years ago, and it was not a busy place.  It's not a difficult hike, but it's hilly, rooty and rocky in some spots - typical escarpment stuff.  Two years ago, I noticed that they were replacing some of the trails with PAVEMENT, to make them accessible.  The place was overrun with the exact type of thoughtless idiots that we all hate.  A real shame.  :shake:

I think you've mentioned your favourite place to go in the past.  While I would not ruin it  :rofl2:, I'm happy to let you keep it as your secret place.   ;D

When I smoked, I did the same.  Never left butts on the trail.  Carried them in an empty Excel mints tin.

Worse for you, better for others.

And it's not as if there haven't been hotels on the summit going back 150 years.

LOL...she's back.  Was only gone Mon to Fri, and I was in Wpg 3 of those days.  I didn't even have time to catch up on all the Netflix and Prime shows I wanted to catch up on.  So no...nothing's burning.

Went to visit friends for dinner last night and they suggested we swap the Clubman with their Macan S for a weekend sometime soon. Fine with me!

Winnipeg keeps life rings on a bracket on the Osborn street bridge. They'll be there for three or four days, then inevitably, some twatwaffle will throw it in the river. A few days later a new life ring will be on the bracket. I admire their persistence.

LOL.  With the number of drunk young people that hang out in Osborne on weekends, I can't say I'm surprised.  Sounds like the :censor: I would have done when I was young, LOL.

It's not what I believe...you just don't inhale cigars (unless you want to barf).

I bet the booze is harder on your liver than a cigar is on your lungs LOL :)
