50 m would be pretty far, in GTA they would squeeze in 15 cars in that distance <span class="emoji-outer emoji-sizer"><span class="emoji-inner" style="background: url(chrome-extension://immhpnclomdloikkpcefncmfgjbkojmh/emoji-data/sheet_apple_64.png);background-position:45.833333333333336% 72.91666666666667%;background-size:4900%" data-codepoints="1f602"></span></span>

If anyone wants to squeeze in between me and a semi in front, be my guest.

108 km/h = 30 m/s = 90-120m following distance at 3-4 seconds.

I think at 3-4 seconds you'd be too far out to make a difference.  Did that on the way to BC the one year.  Sped up to keep up with a passing semi, got better mileage with the trailer than if I hung back.  But I was no more than a half semi length behind to get any benefit.  Way closer than 2 seconds.  Otherwise I'd rather avoid the stone chips.

There are 3 settings on my laser cruise.  Close, Medium, Far.  On the 401, far doesn't work well.  You are waaaaayyy behind.  I found out the hard way it's too far behind.  With a truck or car way up ahead, the LS would start to brake...which pisses people off on the 401...braking for essentially no reason.  Go figure!   ;D

The thing is...to keep a safe distance, those distances change depending on vehicle speed with the laser cruise.

I THINK at 80km/h, the distances are:

Far: 75 meters (3 second gap)  LS430 is 5 meters long, so 15 car lengths.
Medium: 50 meters (2.25 gap) 10 car lengths
Close: 30 meters (1.35 gap)  6 car lengths

I've had the MR2 since May, and due to my summer schedule, I haven't had a chance to give it a proper detail yet.  I hope to change that tomorrow  as I plan on giving a proper treatment tomorrow while the wife and daughter take a day trip to the Maine.  I gotta say that I have really missed the mental therapy of detailing, so looking forward to tomorrow.  :)

I was going to put this in the Food thread, but reconsidered.

10 kids...10.  Wife asked me to buy extra box of little bars on top of the 36 full sizers we had, it's nice outside (well, not raining or snowing anyway), should see some kids tonight...and we get 10.  Have the entrance lit up like a Christmas tree...10... ::)  Oh well, good thing is everyone hates Coffee Crisp so there's 9 of those left over I'll get all to myself!  ;D None of the good stuff...Aero, Kit Kat...Smarties...they all split and bagged them for the other 3.  And a whole box of 100 small bars... :P
