A tire blew on the boat trailer today while cruising down the highway at about 105.  I changed the tire with no issue, then 30 k down the road while filling up, I checked the other tire and could hear air pissing out of it. It was flat within a couple minutes.  :rofl2:

I can laugh now, but wasn't laughing at the time.
Nails? Punctures?

My guess is tire age. Had a look at them this morning and they were manufactured in '08, so original to the boat. On the one tire that didn't blow I found a crack between treads. Otherwise tires look to be in good condition.

Lesson learned the hard way, I should have replaced these when I bought the boat this spring.

Tire brand?  Made in China?
9 years isn't that old.

Old enough if they've been sitting outside for nine years.

I never cheaped out on trailer tires when I towed my bike. Get the absolute best tires you can.

Once, with a buddy, we blew a tire. In the middle of the night we had to replace the tire in a bad part of city in Detroit.

I never wanted to repeat that again.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

They are Carlisle tires.  No idea if made in China or not, I'm not at home now so I can't check.  Again, they looked to be in fine shape, no evidence of cracking anywhere except the one location where I suspect it was leaking from (on the tire that didn't blow).  Without knowing the age of the tire, I (and guessing most people) would have never hesitated to use these based on the appearance.  And yes, tire pressures were good, checked prior to leaving the lake.

Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Also get some caps with grease fittings so you can add some grease before every trip

9 years isn't that old.

Old enough if they've been sitting outside for nine years.

From hagerty.com : There are no hard and fast “expiration dates” on tires, but because rubber begins to crack and deteriorate over time, most experts suggest that eight years is the maximum safe life expectancy of a tire. If you don’t drive your classic at all and it just sits on display, you can get away with keeping the original tires as they’ll hold air. But if you drive the car at all, you need to know how old the tires are. The U.S Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that all tires manufactured since 2000 have serial numbers, and those numbers easily identify their age. Using the last four digits, the first two numbers will reveal the week and last two the year. For example, a serial number ending in 4905 tells you the tires were made during the 49th week of 2005. If there are no recognizable serial numbers, you already have your answer – the tires were made prior to 2000 and need to be replaced.

Yeah, I shouldn't have said "9 years isn't that old", it's more like I would expect to replace them when they are that old, but I also would have supposed it was safety overkill to be replacing tires that still look fine and not  just in the nick of time

Tires get old!? No way, you say!!  I think someone simply slashed them!

Some people...no respect for other peoples property.

If you don't want to follow the link, some lady posted that someone slashed her tires (though I'm sure you've all seen/read this) and well...judge for yourself...here's the pics of her slashed tires...

Looks a LOT like those boat tires...vandalism.  Pure and simple.

I like seeing original art, it's far more interesting than those horrible demotivational posters.

In our lunchroom all they have is an evacuation plan poster.  On it they managed to misspell the word "personnel" three times in two different ways.

Just tried a snuff called "Spanish Gem".  OMFG it smells glorious.  Apparently, Spanish Brandy is used when they sweat the tobacco leaves.  There's some honey in there too.  I smell chocolate, nutmeg maybe..and some light vanilla (I think) with a smoooooth tobacco scent of a very fine cigar.  It's very complex.  Wow...it's so good.  This is definitely the classiest one I've tried yet.  I didn't really enjoy the others I tried in the same sense as enjoying this one.  This snuff would make me understand and "get" why people use snuff.

Nice choice, can't go wrong with that one.  Likely get 10+ years of trouble free use and still be able to get real money for it.
