I do draw the line however on the Catholic board receiving public funds. That's just utter BS.

Initially I thought i agreed with this, but now I think its OK. As long as public can dictate standard curriculum and subjects I don't care what other things are taught. For instamce, If Muslim school network gets established I would hope it gets public funding as well so that they learn the same thing that other kids are learning

Interesting point of view. But wouldn't it be more efficient to just have a single public system with an "religious studies" component. Kids can select whichever version of God they want, and the godless communist kids can study religion and spirituality as a meme.

I still feel that religion has no place in government and public domain of a highly developed society. And when it comes to Quebec's "religious symbols" law it must include Christian symbols too, otherwise its just discriminatory oppression.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.

Agree 100%. Time to go to a single school system. Just imaging the savings for the government and tax payers.

The savings might not be all that much unless you actually close all the surplus schools and sell off all the land. You might end up with fewer teachers and admin staff I suppose but I am sure the unions would fight over that.

But lets do it anyway!

Harris didn't dare do it because most of his support comes from the Catholic system.  Just the mention of putting together the public and catholic systems by John Tory, nearly got him destroyed.

Well Tory suggested having school boards for EVERY superstition all paid out of public funds.  That was the only time in recorded history I did not vote for the conservatives.  Nearly the stupidest idea I have ever heard from an Ont politician. (canning the gas plants by McGuinty and changing to full funding for separate schools by Bill Davis  are the top two).

All that is needed is for the Ont government to have a vote in the legislature, preferably with at least 90% in favour, asking the feds to remove Section 93(? or is it 94) application to Ontario.   PQ did it, NFLD did it so there is precedent and even the federal gove would probably just do it for Ontario.   Whether it would cause the Ont gov to not get re-elected is a question....if I were doing it I'd do it straight after an election so the public would have forgotten about it 4 years later.

I really do not think Harris support came from Rome Catholics

Pennsylvania is looking more likely.  :-\

Conference call for later today to discuss particulars.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.
